DELAWARE COUNTY - Delaware County residents may have to travel even further for emergency services after a recent announcement by Crozer Health.On Wednesday, Crozer Health said the Emergency Department at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital will be completely closed within 60 days.The shutdown is reportedly part of a Transformation Healthcare Services Plan to "redefine how its hospitals care for the community.""This plan will provide healthcare access and services based on post-pandemic operational realities and community needs," Crozer said.MORE HEADLINES:Services will be suspended to begin renovations for a 100-bed behavioral health inpatient hospital opening in spring 2023.Springfield Hospital, whose emergency services were suspended in April, is set to become an outpatient facility by the end of the year.These changes come months after the Delaware County Council passed an emergency ordinance stating long-term care facilities and hospitals must provide notice to the county when developing plans to close long-term care facilities, hospitals or large portions of hospitals.

PHILADELPHIA - Home Depot workers in Philadelphia have filed a petition with the federal labor board to form what could be the first store-wide union at the world's largest home improvement retailer.The petition, filed with the National Labor Relations Board this week, seeks to form a collective bargaining unit for 274 employees who work in merchandising, specialty and operations. The federal agency's database shows no other attempts to form a store-wide union at the company, though a group of Home Depot drivers successfully unionized with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in 2019.Sara Gorman, a Home Depot spokesperson, said the company is aware the filing and "we look forward to talking to our associates about their concerns.""While we will of course work through the NLRB process, we do not believe unionization is the best solution for our associates," Gorman said in an email.Vincent Quiles, a store employee who is leading the petition, did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.

His wife and her friend were returning home from work on Tuesday (20) night.When his wife was close to their home, a couple in a motorbike approached them and attempted to snatch a handbag.According to Sri Lanka Police Rasika was waiting at the doorstep for his wife to return home, along with his father.The duo immediately attacked the motorcycle thieves, and also topple the two-wheeler onto the ground.During the tussle, the motorcycle rider attacked Rasika with a sharp weapon.The victim of the mugging attempt detailed her ordeal to News 1st's Naveksha Gunasekera who visited the scene of the crime on Wednesday (21)."A motorcycle crossed my path and one person attempted to snatch my bag.

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Food Inflation increases to 84.6% in August 2022 from 82.5% in July 2022, reported the National Consumer Price Index on Wednesday (21).The overall rate of inflation measured by NCPI on a year-on-year basis is 70.2% in August 2022, and inflation calculated for July 2022 was 66.7%.The Department of Census and Statistics noted that the reported inflation for the monht of August 2022 was mainly due to the high price levels in both food and non-food groups.

HELLERTOWN, Pa. - A fire that claimed the lives of two young girls in Northampton County earlier this year is now the catalyst for a federal lawsuit against Walmart and a company that makes hoverboards. Brianna Baer, 15, and Abigail Kaufman, 10, died in a house fire in the early hours of April 1. Authorities say the fire broke out just before 1 a.m. on the 600 block of Linden Street in Hellertown. According to the law firm Kline & Specter, who is representing the girls' parents, the lawsuit was filed against Walmart and Jetson Electric Bikes, alleging that a hoverboard made by Jetson Electric and purchased at Walmart was marketed towards children, but had a "defective and unreasonably dangerous design" that caused it to go up in flames. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe suit also alleges Jetson Electric knew or should have known that the hoverboard could short-circuit and cause fires while charging. "We intend to hold the seller and the manufacturer of this dangerous product responsible for the deaths of two innocent young children, and in doing so, seek to prevent future preventable injury, death and grief from occurring," Tom Kline of Kline & Spector said. This is a developing story.

WILMINGTON, De. - Calls for change grew stronger in a Delaware community where a teenager and a young pregnant woman were both fatally shot in a weekend shooting.Community groups and loved ones gathered at Chambers Park in Wilmington Tuesday night for a prayer rally. The park was where police say a 14-year-old was shot to death on Saturday, and 20-year-old Denae Thomas died after being hit by stray gunfire.Dorothy Mangrum, the grandmother of Denae, told FOX 29 that Denae stopped at the park on Saturday while on the way to a corner store. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESWith a palpable amount of pain and suffering consuming the community, local organizations attended Tuesday night's rally to offer resources. "We're out here trying to spread the love and to try to let the children know - the shooters as well - that there's help, we love them," Margaret Guy said. The prayer rally even brought out family members of gun violence victims, including Tynietta Congo-Wright who lost her son in a 2017 shooting. "This gun violence has to stop," Congo-Wright said.
