The row between the EU and Britain over Coronavirus vaccines has highlighted the impact of shortages on ambitious mass vaccination programmes, even on wealthy nations, creating fears the developed world is hogging doses, leaving poorer nations behind.
The head of the World Health Organisation, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has warned against "vaccine nationalism", saying there was a "real danger that the very tools that could help to end the pandemic -- vaccines -- may exacerbate" global inequality.
He sought to provide reassurance, saying:" more vaccines are being developed, approved, and produced." Dr Ghebreyesus said: "There will be enough for everyone, but for now vaccines are a limited resource.
