WHO experts set to begin inquiry into Covid-19 pandemic origins in Wuhan

A World Health Organization-led team investigating the origins of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic is expected to leave their quarantine hotel today to begin field work.

It comes two weeks after their arrival in the Chinese city of Wuhan, where the virus emerged in late 2019. The coronavirus has killed more than two million people, infected at least 100 million and hammered the global economy.

The mission has been plagued by delay, concerns over access and bickering between China and the US. The US has accused China of hiding the extent of the initial outbreak.

It has also criticised the terms of the visit, under which Chinese experts conducted the first phase of research. White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the US wants a "robust and clear"
