Nicola Sturgeon gave a speech on the state of the coronavirus pandemic in Scotland earlier today. The First Minister’s address to MSPs at Holyrood came after cases of the Omicron variant were identified in Scotland for the first time.
Health officials say that nine people have come down with the mutant strain, which is causing concern among global scientists.Omicron is believed to be the driving force behind a recent spike in infection number in southern Africa.Scientists are also looking at the impacts the strain is having on the protection of the vaccines.Health Secretary Humza Yousaf urged Scots to ‘redouble their efforts’ in preventing the spread of the virus earlier this week.This is what Nicola Sturgeon had to say at Holyrood earlier
