Boris Johnson has updated the nation on the measures which are being put in place to tackle the coronavirus crisis. The government’s Chief Scientific Adviser Sir Patrick Vallance warned on September 21 that if the current trend continues, England could face around 50,000 new cases of coronavirus every day by mid-October.
Mr Johnson doesn’t want a second national lockdown, but new measures will be put in place instead. Mr Johnson addressed MPs, saying: "We've reached a perilous turning point," and that in the last fortnight the amount of hospital admissions have more than doubled. He added that this trend would continue, unless we act, which is why new measures have been put into place. That is why the country needs to "act now to avoid still.
