FLOYD COUNTY, Ga - A Floyd County man is charged with the murder of his grandmother and hiding her body in a freezer for months.Investigators said she was still alive and breathing when she was put into the appliance.Robert Tincher III, 29, was charged with the murder of his 82-year-old grandmother, Doris Cumming, and hiding her body in a freezer for months.Floyd County police said in December the elderly woman fell in the apartment the two shared. Investigator Brittany Werner said Tincher put her body in plastic bags.According to the warrant, Tincher dragged the woman through the apartment and "heard and saw numerous bones break".Police say Tincher then put her inside a freezer, while she was still alive."From what we determined, at the time, he believed she was still breathing and had some movement at the time she was going into the freezer," said Floyd County Investigator Brittany Werner.Police said Tincher stayed in the apartment with the freezer in the kitchen, for months.

When a police officer spotted her SUV at a red light, she sped away and led law enforcement on a high-speed chase.According to the news outlet, the chase lasted for about 30 miles, reaching speeds up to 90 miles per hour, before Cabrera crashed her vehicle into a retention pond along Interstate 95.

PHILADELPHIA - A SEPTA Transit Officer who was shot during a firefight with a suspect in Frankford last week is expected to be released from the hospital on Friday. Investigators say Officer Ervis Onuzi, 28, was shot in the abdomen when a gunman who fled a triple shooting near Arrott Transportation Center barricaded himself inside an apartment building and opened fire on responding officers. According to authorities, on April 6 officers from the Philadelphia Police Department responded to the 4700 block of Penn Street after hearing 8-9 gunshots.The gunshots stemmed from a physical altercation between the suspect and another man, police said. It's believed that the suspect fired at the man, striking him once in the neck, while he was walking away.

MAPLE SHADE, N.J. - Maple Shade Police and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a shooting that killed one man and critically injured another.Officials said Maple Shade police were called to the unit block of Laurel Drive around 3:30 Friday morning, on the report of a shooting.Responding officers found a 26-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to the face, outside an apartment, when they arrived on scene. NEW JERSEY - A New Jersey man faces multiple charges after he allegedly ran over a woman, repeatedly, when she attempted to take pictures of his vehicle following a collision.According to the Union County Prosecutor's Office, Vincent Jean, 56, of Elizabeth, was driving a Mitsubishi SUV on Tuesday at about 8:30 a.m. when it collided with a 23-year-old woman's vehicle in the area of Salem Avenue and Aberdeen Road in Elizabeth.Witnesses told prosecutors that Jean attempted to flee the scene and the woman, who was standing on the sidewalk, began taking photos of his car in order to be able to identify him to the police.That's when Jean drove directly at the woman who ran onto a lawn.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - A South Carolina prisoner scheduled to be the first man executed in the state in more than a decade has decided to die by firing squad rather than in the electric chair later this month, according to court documents filed Friday.Richard Bernard Moore, 57, is also the first state prisoner to face the choice of execution methods after a law went into effect last year making electrocution the default and giving inmates the option to face three prison workers with rifles instead.Moore has spent more than two decades on death row after being convicted of the 1999 killing of convenience store clerk James Mahoney in Spartanburg. If executed as scheduled on April 29, he would be the first person put to death in the state since 2011 and the fourth in the country to die by firing squad in nearly half a century.The new law was prompted by the decade-long break, which corrections officials attribute to an inability to procure the drugs needed to carry out lethal injections.In a written statement, Moore said he didn’t concede that either method was legal or constitutional, but that he more strongly opposed death by electrocution and only chose the firing squad because he was required to make a choice."I believe this election is forcing me to choose between two unconstitutional methods of execution, and I do not intend to waive any challenges to electrocution or firing squad by making an election," Moore said in the statement.Moore’s attorneys have asked the state Supreme Court to delay his death while another court determines if either available method is cruel and unusual punishment.

Rafiq Thompson of Philadelphia was charged with the murder of a pregnant woman in Upper Merion after turning himself in to authorities.  PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man who was wanted for the murder of a pregnant woman in Upper Merion on Friday has been charged after turning himself in, the Montgomery County District Attorney announced. According to officials, 38-year-old Rafiq Thompson is facing first-degree murder and related charges connected to the shooting death of 31-year-old Tamara Cornelius last week. Police say the shooting took place at an Exxon gas station before 11 p.m. on North Gulph Road and West Dekalb Pike. Officers arrived on scene and found Cornelius lying in the gas station parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds, authorities say. PREVIOUS: $5K reward offered in search for suspect accused of killing pregnant woman in Upper MerionShe was transported to Paoli Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:09 p.m., according to investigators. Officials say the investigation revealed that Cornelius and the suspect were in a prior relationship and had met up briefly before she went to have dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. According to investigators, Thompson followed Cornelius as she left the restaurant at 10:15 p.m., walked to the parking garage and then drove to the Exxon gas station. Police say as she was pumping gas when Thompson got out of the car, spoke to her and shot her. He continued to shoot her as she tried to get away, authorities say. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information on the whereabouts of Rafiq Thompson.
