PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are searching for a group of teenagers caught on video attacking a driver before stealing his car in Olney. According to police, the incident happened on Tuesday on the 600 block of West Fisher Avenue in Philadelphia's Olney neighborhood. Authorities say the victim was sitting inside his 2007 Hyundai Elantra when he was approached by the group. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe group began to assault the man and he was able to get out of the car with minor injuries, according to investigators. Police say the group then drove off in the man's car towards 10th street. Video surveillance released by Philadelphia police appears to show several teens surrounding the victim's car and two of them appear to hit and kick the victim. Authorities have not specifically said the number of suspects they are looking for, but they did specify the group was comprised of teenagers. Police say no weapons were used during the robbery and anyone with information is urged to call police or submit an anonymous tip.

WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden will take executive action Friday to protect access to abortion, the White House said, as he faces mounting pressure from fellow Democrats to be more forceful on the subject after the Supreme Court ended a constitutional right to the procedure two weeks ago.The White House said Biden will speak Friday morning "on protecting access to reproductive health care services." PHILADELPHIA - Two men are dead after they were shot at close range in West Oak Lane, police say. According to authorities,  police received 911 calls for a report of a shooting on the 1900 block of 68th Street just before 11 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - A Delaware community gathered Thursday for the welcomed return of a sorely missed outlet of summertime fun for kids and teens alike. "Play Streets," hosted in Wilmington, is a free event that closes down select streets for families and friends to partake in activities and sports. Organizers launched Play Streets in 2018, but they were forced to pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers and parents say families need these community events, especially at a time when crime is up in cities across the country.  "It's definitely important for them to understand that they are safe in their communities, to come outside and have fun," Parent and Community Advocate Marlise Carr said.Basketball, hula-hoop, golf, jump rope and skateboarding were just a few of the activities that children and teens played in the first of eight planned block parties. "We have a responsibility to the community, we have to step up more into community partner - collaborate with no fear - because we move in spirit of love," Rashid Mustafa said. A full list of Play Street dates and locations have been posted on the City of Wilmington's social media pages.

Philadelphia police seek the driver of a blue Ford F 150 after an 11-year-old boy was struck on West Girard Avenue. WEST PHILADELPHIA - An 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was struck by a driver in a pickup truck in West Philadelphia.Officials say the incident occurred on the 4200 block of West Girard Avenue Thursday evening, around 7:45.The boy was crossing Girard Avenue when a man driving a blue Ford F 150 struck him.

Wagner Tejeda-Pena, 24, is wanted for allegedly shooting a 76-year-old man who was out on his routine morning walk in Philadelphia in June 2021.  PHILADELPHIA - Police have announced the name of a homicide suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Philadelphia. Authorities say 24-year-old Wagner Tejeda-Pena is wanted for the murder of 76-year-old Loi Nguyen, who was found shot once in the head near his driveway in the alleyway behind L and Claridge Streets in late June. Authorities say a man, identified by family members as 76-year-old Loi Nguyen, was shot in the head on his routine morning walk. Nguyen is remembered by neighbors for his friendliness.According to police, Ngueyn was out for his routine morning walk in his neighborhood when he was shot unprovoked. The incident was captured on surveillance video and footage from a neighbor is believed to show Tejeda-Pena running down an alleyway towards Hunting Park after the shooting. Police say the suspect is also wanted for an aggravated assault on the 1200 block of East Luzerne Street that took place about 15 minutes before the deadly shooting.According to authorities, Tejeda-Pena pulled out a handgun on two people and pulled the trigger several times, but the gun malfunctioned and did not fire.

CAMDEN - New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy this week signed seven new bills into law aimed at curtailing gun violence, including legislation to allow the state attorney general to pursue lawsuits against the firearm industry.One measure requires safety training to get a firearm purchasers permit, and another bans .50-caliber weapons.

MARPLE TWP, Pa. - Authorities in Delaware County are searching for two people accused of stealing an elderly woman's wallet at a local grocery store and buying thousands in gift cards.The alleged theft happened July 4th in the parking lot of the Giant supermarket on West Chester Pike, according to the Marple Township Police Department. Investigators say the pair distracted the elderly victim, then stole her wallet and immediately bought over $2,000 in Visa gift cards from a nearby CVS. Police shared pictures of the suspects and said they were spotted leaving the Giant parking lot in a dark-colored Nissan. Police shared photos of two people suspected of swiping an elderly woman's wallet in the parking lot of a Giant supermarket in Delaware County. TRENTON, N.J. - New Jersey State Police announce arrests in a reported human trafficking ring, operating out of Trenton. Officials announced the arrest of eight individuals Wednesday, along with the dismantling of the ring, as a part of a four-month investigation.In January, according to authorities, detectives with the State Police Missing Persons and Human Trafficking Unit received information about a juvenile who had been trafficked from a residence on Hudson Street, in Trenton.A search warrant was executed and, in the process, detectives found two female victims in the residence.

PHILADELPHIA - Police say one man is dead and another was injured in a shooting in Kensington on Wednesday night. According to authorities, SEPTA and Philadelphia police officers responded to the 600 block of East Lippincott Street in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood. Officials say a 23-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, abdomen and legs. SEPTA police transported the victim to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m. Another victim, a 40-year-old man, arrived at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital by private vehicle with a gunshot wound to the back, according to authorities. Police say he was treated and released from the hospital. 

PAMPLONA, Spain - The first bull run in three years took place Thursday at the San Fermín festival in the Spanish city of Pamplona. PHILADELPHIA - A man is in critical condition after he was shot in North Philadelphia on Thursday, according to police. Authorities say officers responded to a 911 call for a shooting on the 2800 block of 6th Street around 2:40 a.m. Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum told reporters that while on the way, officers received notification that an injured man was on the highway. According to police, the officers found the man with multiple gunshot wounds throughout the body and rushed him to Temple Hospital. The man is currently in critical condition, according to Rosenbaum. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe investigation is still in the preliminary phase, but authorities said blood and shell casings were found at the scene. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are investigating a double shooting in Kensington that injured two people. According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, the shooting took place just before 1 a.m. on Thursday near E Orleans Street and Kensington Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and found a 17-year-old girl who was shot two times in the lower back and once in the leg, according to Small.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of one man in West Oak Lane on Wednesday night. Authorities say a man was shot inside his car on the 7400 block of Gilbert Street around 8 p.m. Witnesses say the shooter walked right up to the driver's side door of the victim's GMC Denali and fired multiple shots.The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities have arrested a man accused of opening fire on a Philadelphia bar after being kicked out, killing a young woman who was inside the building.Police on Wednesday arrested Anthony Nelson for the shooting death of 21-year-old Jailene Holton on June 28th at Philly Bar and Restaurant. Authorities say Nelson, a Philadelphia resident, was taken into custody in Atlantic City and is facing several charges, including murder.Investigators believe Nelson was among a group of men who fought with a bouncer after being told they could not use a pool table because a league was playing.MORE: Man kicked out of bar in NE Philly fires 15 shots at building, killing woman inside, police say | Uncle of woman killed in Philadelphia bar shooting speaks out: 'When are people going to get fed up?'Philadelphia Police Inspector Scott Small told reporters at the scene that when the group was kicked out of the bar one of the men retrieved a gun from a vehicle.More than a dozen shots were fired at the front of the bar from less than 200 feet away, according to investigators. Holton was struck in the head during the barrage of bullets and later died at Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, police said. A second victim was also injured by broken glass and treated at the hospital. The uncle of Jailene Holton, who was fatally shot while with friends at a bar in Northeast Philadelphia, speaks with FOX 29's Steve Keeley.Family members say Holton was the designated driver the night of the shooting and only planned on being at the bar for 20 minutes. "When are people going to get fed up with this reckless shooting in the city?" Holton's uncle said.

YEADON, Pa. - Officials in Delaware County are investigating the death of a prisoner who died while in police custody Tuesday. The death happened inside the Yeadon Police Department sometime during the afternoon, according to officials. The Delaware County District Attorney's Office told FOX 29 that the investigation is still ongoing. Authorities have not shared the identity of the prisoner and have not said what lead up to the death. This is a developing story

KENSINGTON - A 24-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot in Kensington.Officials say the shooting happened Wednesday, just after 2:30 in the afternoon, on the 3500 block of Joyce Street.Responding officers found the 24-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.He was taken by a private vehicle to Episcopal Hospital and listed in critical condition.Police say an investigation into the shooting is underway.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Police are warning residents that a new TikTok challenge has sparked a string of toy gun shootings in Allentown.Over the law few weeks, bystanders have reportedly been shot at random with gel blaster toy guns. Police say the shootings are part of the "Orbeez Challenge," a trend that has recently gained popularity on TikTok.The challenge consists of young people filming themselves loading Orbeez balls, water-absorbent polymer beads, into a gel blaster gun.
