Now she’s charged with his murder.Kouri Richins was arrested on Monday in Utah and is accused in charging documents of poisoning her husband with a lethal dose of fentanyl at their home in Kamas, a small mountain town near Park City.Prosecutors allege that Richins called authorities in the middle of the night in March 2022 to report that her husband, Eric Richins, was "cold to the touch." The mother of three told officers that she had made her husband a mixed vodka drink to celebrate him selling a home and then went to soothe one of their children to sleep in their bedroom.

She later returned and upon finding her husband unresponsive, called 911.A medical examiner later found five times the lethal dosage of fentanyl in his system. In addition to the murder charge, Richins also faces charges involving the alleged possession of GHB — a narcolepsy drug frequently used in recreational settings, including at dance clubs. The charges — which are based on officers' interactions with Richins that night and the account of an "unnamed acquaintance" who claims to have sold her the fentanyl — come two months after Richins appeared on local television to promote "Are you with me?" a picture book she wrote to help children cope after the death of a loved one.For a segment entitled "Good Things Utah," Richins called her husband's death unexpected and described how it sent her and her three boys reeling.

WestJet pilots strike looms: What to know if you’ve got a flight booked
WestJet pilots might soon go on strike are looming over travellers who have tickets booked with the Calgary-based airline. The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), the union representing WestJet pilots, who are seeking better job protections, benefits and wages that will bring them in line with their North American counterparts, is set to declare on Saturday whether a work stoppage will start 72 hours later on May 16.Pilots representing both WestJet and its discount brand Swoop voted in favour of a strike mandate in April. Earlier this week, pilots took part in an informational picket to raise awareness of their demands.John Gradek, a lecturer with McGill University’s aviation management program who’s not involved in the negotiations, says it’s a toss-up whether there will be a strike or not, with the odds seemingly changing on an hour-to-hour basis. He says there’s a “fairly large gap” between WestJet and its pilots, who are seeking a wage boost to offset what they say are some of the lowest rates of pay for pilots in North America.Though the union claims these working conditions have meant WestJet is bleeding staff to the tune of 30 pilots a month, Gradek also says meeting the demands will be “a significant cost” to the airline.WestJet, for its part, pushed back against the union’s claims in a statement released May 8.The airline asserted that its mainline pilots are among the best paid in Canada and wages shouldn’t be compared to U.S.

Court docs show how police nabbed woman accused of aiding Philadelphia prison escape
PHILADELPHIA - Court documents reveal how investigators were able to tie a formerly incarcerated woman to the orchestrated escape of two Philadelphia inmates that sparked a citywide manhunt. Xianni Stalling, 21, was taken into custody Thursday in connection to the Sunday night escape of Ameen Hust, 18, and Nasir Grant, 24, from Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center. The inmates were absent for three headcounts in the hours following their escape, but prison officials say they were not aware Hurst and Grant were gone until late Monday afternoon. Sources told FOX 29 the inmates' cell doors and the door to a recreation yard were left unlocked, which allowed the duo to pass through undetected before escaping through a hole in a fence. From there, an affidavit claims Hurst and Grant were able to climb over two additional barbed wire fences and onto the 8300 block of State Road. The woman has been charged with criminal conspiracy, hindering apprehension, escape and use of a communication facility, according to Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner.Documents show that three hours before the escape, Hurst had a phone conversation with an unknown man during which he made arrangements to be picked up near a bridge behind the prison.Authorities believe that Xianni Stallings helped facilitate that conversation, and alluded to Hurst and Grant's escape during a video call with another prisoner a day later. During that conversation, court documents say Stallings appeared shocked that the unnamed inmate she spoke to hadn't heard about the prison break. "You had the opportunity to run from jail," Stallings is allegedly heard saying.

The legislation also includes a $2 billion Canada Health Transfer (CHT) top-up to reduce backlogs and wait times, the statement said. The grocery rebate was introduced in the 2023 federal budget as a way to compensate Canadians for higher grocery prices due to inflation, though the rebate can be spent on anything.“It is excellent news for Canadians that Bill C-46 received Royal Assent today, following unanimous approval by the House of Commons just a few weeks ago,” Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said in a statement. The rebate will be issued automatically to about 11 million Canadians whose household income is $38,000 or less, and individuals who make $32,000 or less. There is no need to apply for the grocery rebate, which will be delivered along with the July GST Credit payment.
