UK's first nightclub reopens to fury from locals as coronavirus cases spike

Footage from Saturday night showed punters standing shoulder-to-shoulder inside the busy venue after paying up to £200 a ticket.Preston City Council had previously said Switch wouldn't be able to lawfully reopen because of the Government ban on nightclubs under lockdown.However the council issued a statement at about 7pm yesterday giving Switch the go-ahead after all.

When approached by Daily Star Online, Switch referred to a Facebook post explaining the situation. "You may be aware that Switch was due to open tonight based on guidelines and legislation as a live music venue," the post reads.
