UK reports 30 rare blood clots following AstraZeneca vaccine

British regulators said they have identified 30 cases of rare blood clot events after the use of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine - from a total of 18.1 million doses.

This is 25 more than previously reported. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said it had received no such reports of clotting events following use of the vaccine made by Pfizer-BioNTech.

The health officials said they still believe the benefits of the vaccine in the prevention of Covid-19 far outweigh any possible risk of blood clots.

Some European countries have restricted access to the AstraZeneca vaccine over reports of blood clotting, but the EU's drug regulating agency said earlier this week it had found no specific risk factors connecting the jab to
