The UK has recorded just one coronavirus death in the latest 24-hour period with 1,649 new cases, figures show. This is down from the 14 fatalities and 1,671 infections announced yesterday, although Monday Covid figures tend to be lower due to a lag in data reporting at weekends.
Today's increase in deaths is the lowest jump since August 30, when a single fatality was also recorded. It comes as Britain's vaccination campaign continues to speed ahead, with more than 34 million first doses and 15.3 million second doses administered.
