Britain has today hit the 50 million Covid vaccine dose milestone as the country moves closer to lifting lockdown completely with one in four people fully protected.

After over five months, the unprecedented roll-out has seen nearly 75 percent of the population having had at least one dose ahead of the next stage of the road map on May 17.

The UK offered vaccines to all of the most vulnerable age groups including those aged over 50 by its April 15 target. And now the rollout has extended to all adults over 40, with the Moderna jab adding to the arsenal already boasting vaccines from Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
