The UK's coronavirus R rate has fallen below 1 for the first time since July, in a sign that lockdown rules are having an impact on the spread of the virus.
Scientists advising the Government said the virus reproduction value - known as R - was estimated to be between 0.7 and 0.9 across the UK.
The growth rate estimate for the virus remains between -5% and -2%, which means the number of infections is shrinking by between 2% and 5% every day.
The latest R rate for England is between 0.7 and 0.9, with slight variations by region. If the R value is at 1, it means that each person with Covid-19 is infecting one other person, on average.
