The UK's coronavirus death toll has risen by 53 bringing the number of fatalities in all settings to 45,554. Earlier today it was announced that 19 people had died in hospitals across Britain - the lowest Thursday increase in lockdown.
The Department of Health says there have been 297,146 lab-confirmed cases after 769 people tested positive for Covid-19. Yesterday the Government said 45,501 people had died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Tuesday, up by 79 from the day before.
Separate figures published by the UK's statistics agencies show there have now been more than 56,100 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
