UK coronavirus cases rise by over 4,000 for first time since early May

The UK's coronavirus death count has increased by 27 today amid the biggest single-day jump in cases since May 8. Some 4,322 infections were recorded over the past day, bringing the overall number of cases to 385,936.

It is the biggest single-day jump in infections since May 8, when 4,649 were reported. Cases across the country have been steadily rising over the past two weeks, sparking a lockdown in the North East.
