President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended a gracious invitation to President Ranil Wickremesinghe to participate in the World Climate Action Summit, a key event that will inaugurate the Emirates Climate Conference.

The invitation was sent as a letter to President Wickremesinghe, expressing warm greetings and well wishes for the progress and prosperity of Sri Lanka and its people.The invitation letter sent by the President of the United Arab Emirates were officially handed over to President Wickremesinghe yesterday (22) by the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Sri Lanka Mr.

Khaled Nasser AlAmeri.The World Climate Action Summit leaders’ event is scheduled to take place on December 1 and 2, and will coincide with the UAE’s 52nd National Day celebrations.

The summit will mark the launch of the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28 UAE) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at Expo City Dubai from November 30 to December 12, which will be presided over by the United Arab Emirates.COP28 UAE holds immense significance as it will witness the conclusion of the first Global Stocktake of the Paris Agreement.

COLOMBO (News 1st) – The re-correction results of the 2021 GCE Ordinary Level Examination have been released.The results can be obtained by visiting the official website of the Department of Examinations, www.doenets.lk.The examination department said that 80,272 applicants had applied for rescrutiny of results this time.Meanwhile, the Department of Examinations says that the distribution of the question papers of the 2022 GCE Ordinary Level examination to exam centers commenced at midnight yesterday (26).Commissioner General of Examinations Amit Jayasundara says that the question papers required for 5 days will be distributed to exam centers.He also says that the distribution of the stationery items required for the examination has been completed.Meanwhile, the Commissioner General adds that special examination centers have been established for students with special needs, prison inmates, and cancer patients.He says that if there are examination candidates who have contracted dengue, they will be given the opportunity to appear for the examination at the nearest examination center on medical specialist advice.The 2022 GCE Ordinary Level examination is to commence from the 29th of May to the 8th of June. Commissioner General of Examinations Amit Jayasundara says that 472,553 candidates will be facing this year's examination in 3,568 exam centers across the island.
