The region's hospital death toll has now reached 5,803, the latest NHS figures show. One more death has been confirmed by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and one more by Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

These were the only deaths announced by hospitals in the North West today. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Thursday, April 1, is: Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 645 Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9 Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 1,170
