Troops in a regiment leading mass Covid-19 test trials allegedly broke lockdown at a drug party. Royal Military Police are probing and personnel have been tested for drug abuse.
If results are positive, they could get stiff jail terms and be booted out of the Army. Up to 21 troops from 32 Engineer Regiment were at a bash at barracks in Catterick, North Yorks, last Thursday.
At least two squadrons are in Liverpool aiding the trial Covid testing scheme. MoD sources said the soldiers involved in the alleged party are from a separate squadron.
But one added: “Senior officers are disgusted. “They have tarnished the good work by comrades in Liverpool.” The Army said: “While this matter is under investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment
