Tighter travel restrictions set for travel with UK

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the Government is continuing to monitor the Delta variant of Covid-19 as tighter travel restrictions between Ireland and the UK are being considered.

He said there will be a strengthening of the situation in relation to travel from the UK into Ireland in respect of self-quarantining.

Speaking on his way into Cabinet this morning the Taoiseach said: "The broader picture is that the variant has increased in prevalence in the United Kingdom.

I think it makes sense that we continue to monitor this, which we will take public health advice as we move along, but so far the reopening has gone well in Ireland..." When asked about imposing mandatory quarantine on those coming to Ireland from the UK the Taoiseach said
