As the country is being advised to exercise social distancing in a bid to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, The One Show appeared not to get the memo.

On Thursday’s programme, hosts Alex Jones and Patrick Kielty were forced to sit further away from each other on the sofa after complaints were sent in.

The pair began the show sitting in their usual spots, but were soon scolded by viewers who were less than impressed they were not setting an example.

Shortly before the programme Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he expects the tide to be turned in the fight within 12 weeks, urging the public to follow social distancing advice and for businesses to “stand by your employees”.
