Manchester Council’s Books To Go service provides people who have difficulty leaving their homes with a chance to continue reading by bringing their local library directly to them.
The service has been running since 2013 but had to close during the lockdown earlier this year.“At the start of the first lockdown back in March, the Books to Go team knew that its customers would be severely affected by the introduction of the restrictions,” Books To Go service manager Cathy Moore said.“Most of our customers are among the most vulnerable in our communities."Many are visually impaired and they rely on the service to help them cope with the long and lonely days the restrictions have imposed."As so many people rely on the service, it was important.
