Teacher trade union representatives have been meeting NPHET officials to discuss their concerns around shortfalls in the state's contact tracing and testing systems.
Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland earlier today, head of the INTO John Boyle described the testing and tracing process as "shambolic".
Mr Boyle said NPHET acknowledged at today's meeting that testing and tracing systems were currently overwhelmed. NPHET is meeting second level teacher trade union representatives this afternoon for the first time.
In a statement, the INTO says it outlined its key concerns to both Department of Education officials and the Irish public health experts and reiterated its demands – which include the publication of details of confirmed Covid-19 cases
