The Taoiseach has said that halting construction work on new homes during Covid-19 lockdown is one of the main regrets of his tenure so far.
Micheál Martin said the decision during the second lockdown was taken because the Government wanted to be "ruthless" in supressing the Alpha wave of Covid-19.
The Fianna Fáil leader insisted that the approach worked, and significantly reduced death rates in Ireland, but it came at the cost of stalling progress on much-needed housing developments.
