The Tánaiste has said that the Government's plan for re-opening the country has an "emergency break" which could lead to restrictions being retained, if the Covid-19 virus gets out of control.
The reopening plan for May and June was announced by the Government yesterday evening, with Taoiseach Micheál Martin outlining a return for the retail and hospitality sectors.
Mr Martin also said the Government's Covid-19 strategy "is working" thanks to the efforts of people and the vaccination programme.
Later last night Leo Varadkar said he believes it is still possible for the Government to meet its vaccine roll-out target of ensuring that more than 80% of adults either receive a vaccine, or are offered one, by the end of June.
