Rideau Hall incident sparked after ‘armed man’ accessed grounds: police

Royal Canadian Mounted Police says an operation that unfolded early Thursday morning at Rideau Hall, the official residence of Governor General Julie Payette, was the result of an armed man accessing the grounds.The police force said in a tweet that around 6:40 A.M. on Thursday, an armed man accessed the grounds of Rideau Hall which is located at 1 Sussex Drive.Both Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Payette live on the property: Payette in Rideau Hall and Trudeau at the nearby Rideau Cottage.
