HINESVILLE, Ga. - The high price of fuel has caused a lot of pain for drivers across the country, so one Georgia gas station gave back to the community on the Fourth of July with heavily discounted gas.On Monday, the A to Z Food Mart in Hinesville, Georgia dropped the price to less than $2 a gallon - less than half the average price in the Peach State, WTOC reported.People lined up around the block and waited for hours to fill up at the Chevron gas station off of West Oglethorpe Parkway. "Everyone’s wallet’s taking a hit right now in 2022, so the least we can do as a locally, independently owned convenient store is give back for the community," Ravi Patel, the owner of the gas station, told WTOC.The sale of gas lasted for just three hours. In that time, Patel estimated he lost around $12,000.But Patel says it's worth the price to see smiles on his customers' faces.According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of unleaded gas in Georgia is $4.26 - around half a dollar less than the national average of $4.752 a gallon.Georgia's price is around two cents less than Wednesday, 10 cents less than a week ago, seven cents less than a month ago, and around $1.30 more than the same time in 2021.The most expensive gas in the state is in Atlanta, Hinesville-Fort Stewart, and Athens.

MENDOCINO, Calif. - Gas prices at one Northern California gas station are getting very close to $10 a gallon.A Chevron station in Mendocino was charging $9.63 this week for a gallon of regular gas.Aldo Vazquez, who works at AAA Northern California, says it costs more to bring gas to this rural area, so that company has to charge more to stay in business."When you factor in transportation costs, the proximity to pipelines, those can also add up to the price of gasoline," Vaszquez said on Monday. "That’s why we always recommend doing your research because if you can find a different route, you may end up in an area with cheaper prices."It's still expensive to buy gas elsewhere in the country, but way less expensive than California, which has the highest average in the nation hovering around $6.40 a gallon, according to AAA.

MENDOCINO, Calif. - Each week, the price of gas across the country – but especially in California – gets impossibly higher.Just before Memorial Day, the Chevron on Alameda de las Pulgas in Menlo Park hit $7.25 a gallon.Then, this week, one Chevron in Los Angeles was selling gas for more than $8 a gallon. And now, we've spotted gasoline costing $9.50 a gallon at a gas station in Mendocino. These prices are well over the average price of gas in the Golden State, which last weekend surpassed $6 a gallon for the first time ever, according to the AAA. This is an all-time high for the state.Breaking it down by cities, on Friday, the average price in Oakland is $6.37 a gallon, San Jose is $6.38 a gallon and San Francisco is $6.50 a gallon. The prices are curbing drivers' plans. Laura Dena and her sons would have typically go to Southern California around Memorial Day weekend to escape Arizona’s scorching heat.

LOS ANGELES - One gas station in downtown Los Angeles is charging upwards of $8 a gallon for regular gas. This comes as gas prices continue to rise across California and the U.S.  The average price in Los Angeles County rose to a record $6.172 on Tuesday. However, the Chevron station off Alameda in Downtown LA is charging over $8 a gallon. Many people in the area say the station is price gouging. In a statement released to FOX 11, Chevron said there are multiple factors that go into the price of a gallon of gasoline, "including some unique ones specific to California." The company added that the majority of its branded stations in California - including this one - are independently owned.

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles on Tuesday became the first major city in the U.S. to reach an average gas price of $6 or more. That's according to fuel savings platform GasBuddy, which reported the national average gas price in the U.S.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - A former Google employee sued the tech giant saying it engages in a "pattern and practice" of racial discrimination against its Black workers, steering them into lower-level and lower-paid jobs and subjecting them to a hostile work environment if they speak out. April Curley was hired in 2014 to recruit Black candidates for the company. Her lawsuit, filed on Friday in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Jose, claims she was unlawfully fired in 2020 after she began speaking out and "called for reform of the barriers and double standards Google imposed on Black employees and applicants," according to the lawsuit."Google chose to ignore and ultimately attack Black employees brave enough to speak up about Google's embedded racism that actively harmed Black employees on a daily basis," Curley said. "Google believes great people are white people.

Mega Millions drawing that took place on Jan. 25. Gabriel Fierro, 60, of Cornelius, North Carolina won all of the luck when he cashed in his $3 lottery ticket for a whopping $4 million prize. "I don’t usually play my fortune cookie numbers but I tried them on a whim," Fierro told the NC Education Lottery. Fierro said he purchased his ticket using the online play option and added an extra $1 to make it a Megaplier ticket to multiply any winnings. The winning ticket matched all five white balls, which won Fierro $1 million, but that was multiplied by four with the Megaplier hit, according to NC Education Lottery. "I got an email in the morning and I just stared at it dumbfounded," Fierro said.
