‘Behaviour changed’: Emergency hospital visits fell 50% in early days of pandemic
coronavirus patients, emergency departments across Canada saw a significant decline in people seeking medical attention in the first few months of the pandemic amid increased restrictions.According to data from March to June, released last week by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), there was a 50 per cent drop in emergency visits in April compared to the same time last year. Even when services resumed, visits remained lower than usual, the CIHI data showed.
