PHILADELPHIA - The parents of a young man who was shot and killed by Pennsylvania State Police on Interstate 95 during a chaotic car meet-up earlier this month opened up about the night they lost their son. Police say 18-year-old Anthony Allegrini Jr. was on I-95 during a car meet-up where vehicles were doing doughnuts and burnouts in the middle of the highway in the early morning hours of June 4. "It's not what we would have advised him to do, we’ve always tried to instill in him right from wrong," Jennifer Allegrini, Anthony's mother, told FOX 29. Officers responded to a stretch of highway rear Penn's Landing around 3:30 a.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia City Council is now taking up the issue of illegal street racing days after illegal car meet-ups across the city culminated in a deadly officer-involved shooting.6th District Councilmember Mike Driscoll introduced an "anti-drifting" bill on Thursday that would define "drifting," as well as "doughnuts" and "spin-outs," in the city’s reckless driving code. The bill would allow penalties of $2,000 for participants, and the ability for police to seize any vehicle that is being used to "drift" on city property.Driscoll says the bill was in the works, but after seeing videos and aftermath of the illegal meet-up at Cottman and Torresdale Avenue in his district last weekend, he wanted to get it out this week.It was co-signed by Councilmember Mark Squilla and Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson, and will now head to committee."We have to send a strong message that we’re not going to tolerate this, and I tell you what, once we start seizing this vehicles, I think we’re going to get their attention," Driscoll said.The introduction of the bill comes on the same day 18-year-old Anthony Allegrini Jr. was laid to rest.

PHILADELPHIA - A crash involving a moped and car left one driver in critical condition Saturday night.Police say the driver of a moped was running a red light when he was hit by an Audi at the intersection of Loretto and Magee avenues around 7 p.m. The Audi driver was driving through a green light, according to police.The moped driver, a 51-year-old man, suffered head trauma and was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is back behind bars after she allegedly violated her probation when she was charged with driving under the influence last month. Kane surrendered to authorities in Montgomery County on Friday, a day after a judge had issued a bench warrant for her arrest. Last month, Scranton police were called to the scene of a two-car crash and said Kane was found behind the wheel of an Audi. Asked if she'd been drinking, Kane denied it, pointed to her passenger and said, "It's totally not me," an affidavit said.

HARRISBURG - A former Pennsylvania attorney general who served eight months in jail for leaking grand jury material and lying about it was charged Thursday with drunken driving after a weekend crash in Scranton.Police said Kathleen Kane, 55, told officers she was a designated driver, but surveillance video showed Kane herself had been drinking alcohol at a Scranton restaurant shortly before the crash, according to an affidavit.Kane had watery, bloodshot eyes and slurred her words — police said she had trouble saying the word "designated" — and failed a field sobriety test, the documents said.Kane, who was also charged with careless driving, was issued a summons and is due in court April 21. She did not respond to a message seeking comment.

Portugal’s air force rescued crew from ship loaded with luxury cars after it caught fire near the coast of the Azores on Wednesday. BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. - A pair that police allege are responsible for the thefts and burglaries of vehicles in the state of New Jersey have been arrested. On Thursday at approximately 2 p.m., an off-duty Brick Township police officer was leaving an LA Fitness Gym in the Brick Plaza after working out when he heard a vehicle alarm sounding in the parking lot. According to police, the alarm was coming from a tan Chevy pickup truck.
