AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A Black man shot and killed by Akron police officers in a hail of bullets following a vehicle and foot pursuit was unarmed at the time of the shooting, but a shot appeared to have come from the vehicle during the pursuit, and officers said they feared he was preparing to fire when they discharged their weapons, authorities said.Police on Sunday released video the mayor called "heartbreaking" of the pursuit and shooting of Jayland Walker, 25, while pleading for peace and patience from the community while the state investigation into the shooting continues. It was not yet clear how many shots were fired, but Walker sustained more than 60 wounds.

ALTOONA, Pa. - A Pennsylvania prosecutor has ruled that a late police sergeant was justified in using deadly force that resulted in the accidental shooting death of a jail guard during a hostage situation at a county courthouse last fall.Authorities said an inmate had been taken from the Blair County jail to the courthouse in Altoona for a hearing in November when he allegedly disarmed corrections officer Rhonda Jean Russell. A police sergeant fired a shot at the inmate but hit 47-year-old Russell, a 14-year veteran who was pronounced dead at UPMC Altoona.District Attorney Pete Weeks said last week that the use of deadly force by the police sergeant, who officials said died several months later of natural causes, was justified under the law.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Danish police said Sunday that several people were shot at a Copenhagen shopping mall.Copenhagen police said that one person has been arrested in connection with the shooting at the Field’s shopping mall, which is close to the city's airport. TUCSON, Ariz. - The Tucson Police Department says a woman was shot and killed by her boyfriend after they got into a car crash on July 1.At around 2 p.m., Sgt. Richard Gradillas says officers responded to reports of a 2-car crash involving a Dodge truck and Kia Soul near 5th Street and Wilmot Road."Before officers arrived on the scene, witnesses observed an adult male exit the truck and left the area on foot," Gradillas said. But once they did arrive, an unresponsive woman, Jessica Garcia, 36, was found in the Dodge with shooting injuries.Garcia was taken to the hospital in critical condition but died shortly after arriving.

Police say one person is dead after a double-shooting in North Philadelphia.

NEW YORK - Police in Nassau County say they are investigating a possible shark attack.  It happened Thursday afternoon at Jones Beach but the information was not released until Friday.The Nassau County Police Department says a 37-year-old man was swimming at around 1 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - The alleged gunman in a deadly road rage shooting Wednesday morning in Delaware County has been arrested, according to law enforcement sources. The Delaware County District Attorney's Office confirmed that an arrest was made in the shooting, but did not specify if the person in custody is the shooter.Officers in Springfield Township were called to the area of South State Road between Buttonwood Drive and Meetinghouse Lane just before 9 p.m.

EAST GERMANTOWN - Four people have been injured in an East Germantown shooting, as gun violence continues to grip Philadelphia.Officials say officers with Philadelphia’s 14th District were called to the 1100 block of East Price Street Wednesday night, just before 8, on the report of a shooting.Responding officers found two victims at the East Germantown location.

PHILADELPHIA - A woman is in custody after she was caught on surveillance video casually shooting a man standing on a Kensington street earlier this month.Latanya Nettles, 42, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, PIC, simple assault and REAP in connection to the June 6 shooting.Video released by police shows the woman smoking a cigarette before turning around and shooting a man one time at close range. She then continues smoking, puts her gun in her purse, and casually walks away. SEPTA officers were in the area when they reportedly heard a gunshot and found the man on the 1800 block of East Wishart Street. He suffered one gunshot wound to the abdomen.

PHILADELPHIA - James Holton's world was rocked when he got the news that his niece Jailene Holton was fatally shot at a bar in Northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday night. What began as a rare outing for the 21-year-old woman, who hardly ever drank or went out according to family, ended in tragedy at the Philly Bar & Restaurant. Authorities say 8th District officers responded to numerous reports of a shooting and found Holton suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was transferred to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital to undergo surgery, but she later died, police say. Holton's family says she was serving as the designated driver for a night out with a friend that began at Top Golf and ended at the bar. FOX 29 learned that a group of three men walked into the bar and one of them wanted to play billiards but was turned down because a billiards league was using the pool table. Authorities say the man began to cause a disturbance and he was escorted out of the bar with the two other men he arrived with. As the disturbance escalated, patrons in the bar were advised to stand at the back of the bar for their safety, sources told FOX 29's Steve Keeley. Jailene Holton, 21, is remembered by her family as a quiet woman who worked and didn't go out often.

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - Police are conducting a shooting investigation in Springfield, according to authorities. SKYFOX flew over the scene of South Rt. 1 and Meetinghouse Lane and police vehicles were spotted on scene. Springfield Police say initial reports indicate that the shooting may have stemmed from a road rage incident on State Road. Suspects fled the area, according to police, but the community is not in danger. The Delaware County District Attorney's Office tells FOX 29's Jeff Cole that a man, who is believed to be in his 70s, died from gunshot wounds. FOX 29 is working to learn additional details about the shooting and the victim. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are searching for suspects in connection with a double shooting in Germantown. Authorities say the shooting happened on Monday around 8:00 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Officers with the Philadelphia Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead on Tuesday night. According to authorities, officers with the 8th District responded to numerous 911 calls reporting gunshots and a shooting at a bar on the 2400 block of Welsh Road around 11:30 p.m.Chief Inspector Scott Smalls police arrived on scene and found two victims. A 21-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head was transferred to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital to undergo surgery, but she later died, according to police. Police say a second victim, who was cut in the face by glass, was taken to the same hospital for treatment. Small says investigators know at least 15 shots were fired by a semi-automatic weapon. Police say they found five bullet holes in the bar's front window and they believe one of the bullets struck the 21-year-old. According to Small, investigators do not believe she was the intended target. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAuthorities say the investigation revealed a group of three men walked into the bar but were escorted out when one of them caused a disturbance at the bar. Small says the man who was giving the staff a problem then walked to a dark or Black pickup truck and 15 shots were fired in the direction of the bar. Authorities say there were multiple cameras in the area and they are confident that they will be able to identify him. The two men with the alleged shooter are not believed to be involved in the shooting, Small says. 

Uvalde mother who was handcuffed as she tried to run by police outside Robb Elementary School, but eventually got free and rescued her kids, is now being harassed by police after speaking out about the ordeal, her lawyer said this week. Angeli Rose Gomez, a Uvalde native, was working on a farm roughly half an hour away when she started getting calls about the shooting and rushed to the school.Her lawyer, Mark Di Carlo, called the scene when she arrived "the most horrible scenario you could imagine.""We had these [$50,000] to $100,000 cruisers surrounding this school, taxpayer items — taxpayer shields and bulletproof vests and sniper rifles – none of those being used to go into the school, but in fact, the SUVs, for example, were being used to block people from going in to save their own children," Di Carlo told Fox News Digital on Monday. Gomez was handcuffed by either a Texas Department of Public Safety Officer or US Marshal as she tried to get past the police line. A Uvalde Police Department officer who knew Gomez then intervened and helped her get free. "As soon as they take me off the cuffs, I see his arm, like, give me a little gateway, because I'm real little.

Authorities announced murder charges against 22-year-old Teon Macklin-Goodwine. MAPLE SHADE, N.J. - Authorities in Maple Shade announced charges against a Clementon man in connection to a fatal shooting at a South Jersey apartment complex earlier this year. An investigation began after Maple Shade police responded to the Fox Meadows apartment complex on January 16 for reports of gunshots.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a man was shot and killed in broad daylight Tuesday afternoon in North Philadelphia. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 2300 block of West Montgomery Avenue around 2 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating after an off-duty corrections officer was carjacked at gunpoint and shot at the alleged carjacker in Feltonville on Monday night. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers with the 25th District received a 911 call for a robbery and gunshots on the 200 block of E Roosevelt Boulevard around 11 p.m. When officers arrived on location, they were met by an off-duty corrections officer, 59, who said he was leaving a friend's house and getting into his Toyota Avalon when he was approached by a man with a gun who pulled him out of the car, police say. According to authorities, the alleged carjacker got into the driver's seat of the car and began to drive away as the off-duty corrections officer fired five shots at the suspect and the car. The suspect sped off in the car and officers located it about 25 minutes later on the 4900 block of Bingham Street, officials say. Small says the vehicle was found with five bullet holes in it and fresh blood inside the car. Authorities say officers were also notified that a 21-year-old shooting victim with a gunshot wound in each arm showed up for treatment at Temple Hospital. Small says there is a possibility that the shooting victim may be the alleged carjacker and authorities are investigating. According to police, the off-duty officer said the suspect was wearing a surgical mask and a hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say four people were shot in a pair of unrelated nighttime shootings Monday night in Philadelphia. Investigators say two men, ages 18 and 25, showed up at Albert Einstein Medical Center around 8 p.m. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities say both young men were shot while sitting in front of a property on the 4900 block of Wayne Avenue. Both victims were placed in critical, but stable, condition, according to police.

Police shared photos of a pair of armed robbery suspects accused of robbing two North Philadelphia Rite Aids. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities in Philadelphia are searching for three armed robbery suspects who they believe knocked off two pharmacies stores on consecutive days.Investigators believe the three wanted males robbed the Rite Aid on the 2800 block of Dauphin Street around 4 p.m.

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Delaware State Police say they are investigating the death of an inmate over the weekend at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown. Police say detectives and the Department of Correction are investigating the death of an inmate that occurred on Saturday. The inmate’s body was turned over to the Division of Forensic Science where police say an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The inmate’s identity is expected to be released after next of kin are notified and police say further details will be released as they become available.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Police say they have arrested a man who shot and killed a woman who was sitting inside her vehicle on the side of the road in Glendale.The incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. on June 11 near 59th Avenue and Bell Road.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. - A hundred animals are on their way to safety after the Pennsylvania SPCA removed them from a property in Lancaster County.Eleven dogs, 27 cats, 5 horses, 4 sheep, 1 goat, 2 turkeys, 32 chicks, 4 guinea hens, 6 hens and 8 baby ducks were seized from the property on Pumping Station Road in Quarryville.  The SPCA says they found the animals living in "extremely unsanitary conditions" after a tip from a Good Samaritan.They were "living in filth" inside and outside the property, according to officials.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Wilmington police are investigating a shooting that critically injured an 18-year-old and a 12-year-old.According to officials, police were called to 24th and Tatnall Streets Friday, around 3:45 in the afternoon, on the report of a shooting.Officers found an 18-year-old male and a 12-year-old male at a local hospital, listed in critical condition.Responding officers found another 18-year-old male with non-life threatening gunshot wounds, at the scene. He was taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition.Police are investigating a possible motive into the gunfire.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is grieving the loss of one of their own after an off-duty officer was killed in a crash in Somerton on Thursday. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small says just before midnight, officers in the 7th District received numerous calls about a crash at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Rennard Street. According to authorities, when officers and medics arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved in the crash. A Philadelphia police officer was killed in a crash while on his way home from work, authorities say. FOX 29's Steve Keeley has the latest.A 50-year-old man driving a Hyundai was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, authorities say. The vehicle that struck the officer's car was a BMW with an 18-year-old driver and two teenage passengers, police say. None of the individuals in the BMW were injured and they denied medical treatment, according to officials. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators say the Hyundai was traveling west on Rennard Street crossing Bustelon Avenue as the BMW was going south on Bustleton Avenue. The BMW struck the passenger side of the Hyundai, jumped the curb and then struck a tree, per authorities. Police say a witness spoke to accident investigators and say the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed. Small says through the investigation,  police learned the driver of the Hyundai was an active Philadelphia police officer who had just finished the night shift and was driving home in his personal vehicle. The officer was a 27-year veteran with the Philadelphia Police Department, according to Small. "It's a real tragedy," Small said.
