Stock futures point to more gains on optimism coronavirus cases could be slowing

NEW YORK - Equity futures are pointing to a higher open on Tuesday amid a few glimmers of hope that the coronavirus pandemic could be slowing.

The major futures tables are indicating a rise of 4 percent when trading begins. RELATED: CoronavirusNOW.com, FOX launches national hub for COVID-19 news and updates In Europe, London's FTSE rose 2.5 percent, Germany's DAX gained 3.6 percent and France's CAC added 3.2 percent.

Asian markets were also rising. Japan's Nikkei gained 2 percent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng added  2.1 percent, while China's Shanghai Composite jumped 2 percent.
