Kanchana requests COPF probe into coal deal

COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekara has officially requested the Chairman of the Public Finance Committee, SJB MP Dr. Harsha de Silva to conduct an inquiry on the recent procurement of 4.5 million MT of Coal. Public Finance Committee Chief Harsha demands President publicize IMF conditions

COLOMBO (News 1st): Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP and the Chairman of the Committee for Public Finance Dr. Harsha de Silva stated that although the government has signed a staff-level agreement with the IMF, the Parliament has not been briefed on the terms and conditions of the agreement.Speaking to media, the MP stressed that he cannot allow the Government to move forward based on its own whims and fancies.
