A number of regional vaccination centres are set to close in the coming days. The HSE has said the closure of smaller, regional clinics is part of a wider reorganisation, and that the remaining 15 centres – along with GPs and pharmacies – can provide the necessary level of vaccination up to the end of the year.

The Covid-19 vaccination centre at Ennis Hospital will close next Saturday, while the centre at Nenagh Hospital will shut on Sunday.

Fifteen centres remain open, including one in Limerick city centre, although some are only open for a few days a week. The Government is continuing to encourage those who have not have a vaccination to come forward for one, and for others to get their boosters.

There are 794 people with Covid-19 in hospital today, while ICU cases have risen to more than 30. Read more:Large number of incidental Covid cases in hospital, says consultantLatest coronavirus stories
