PHILADELPHIA - Severe thunderstorm watches have been issued for parts of Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey as heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected to impact the area Thursday afternoon.Thursday's thunderstorm watches will be in effect until 9 p.m.
and warn of potential threats including tornadoes, hail, and strong winds with scattered gusts of up to 65 miles per hour. The National Weather Service issued the watch early Thursday afternoon for an area spanning from parts of Virginia, through the Delaware Valley, and up into northern New Jersey.
A band of strong storms is expected to move into areas west of Philadelphia around 3-4 p.m. and continue east during the late afternoon and early evening.
