Second worker dies in coronavirus outbreak at factory of Marks and Spencer supplier

A second worker has died during a coronavirus outbreak at a food factory, a union says. The GMB called for mass testing of employees at the Bakkavor Tilmanstone Salads site near Dover, Kent, and for any worker who is absent due to covid to be given full pay.

The site is also facing calls to shut for a deep clean and carry out mass testing on its workers after it suffered a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in November.

The union said at least 97 workers have been told to self-isolate at the factory, which produces food for Marks & Spencer.
