Scottish Government announces 10 deaths and 7076 covid cases in last 24 hours

The Scottish Government has confirmed that 10 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The latest figures for Scotland showed that 7,076 new cases had also been identified overnight.

There are currently 536 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 34 being treated in intensive care. To date 4,378,172 people have received their first vaccination with 4,006,076 having a second jab.A total of 2,841,703 people have received a booster.

It comes as covid vaccine centres in Scotland are set to close on Christmas Day as Scots are urged to come forward to get jabbed before the big day.

Testing facilities across the country will remain open everyday throughout the festive period as the Omicron variant continues to spread.
