Lockdowns were tough for most musicians – but for one Scot, they provided the opportunity of a lifetime. Rachelle Rhienne has revealed that being stuck at home led to her becoming the voice of hit ITV show The Masked Dancer.

She said: “I’m always trying to make something negative into a positive and I definitely feel like I did that with my music during lockdown.“Because gigs and shows were cancelled, I wasn’t able to throw myself into music that way, so I turned more to networking online.“Through lockdown, I made a connection with a guy called Gary White who has previously produced one of my singles."He sent me an email asking if I had the facilities to record and if I was interested in working on The Masked Dancer.“Right away I thought it was an amazing opportunity.

I set up my little home studio but it’s the most basic setup and I thought I wouldn’t be able to provide good enough recordings for them.“But they were really happy with what I put forward.

I’ve never had that sort of thing happen to me before. It was surreal hearing your vocals on prime time TV.“They asked me to do The Masked Singer too, so I provide a lot of the backing vocals and harmonies for the celebrities to sing over.”The Masked Dancer, screened last year, saw 12 celebrities dressed in outrageous costumes busting out their best moves.
