Scotland can enjoy a "normal Christmas" even with the remaining covid restrictions in place, John Swinney has said. The Deputy First Minister today defended the vaccine passport scheme and insisted it was boosting the number of people who received a jab when offered.
It comes after Nicola Sturgeon announced yesterday an extension to the programme could soon be rolled out to cinemas, theatres and other hospitality venues.
The SNP leader said no final decision had been taken but a further update will be given next week.Showing proof of vaccination is already required to gain entry to nightclubs, live music venues, and large sporting events in Scotland.
