Read here "In this study, we unexpectedly found that NeoCoV and its close relative, PDF-2180-CoV, can efficiently use some types of bat Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and, less favourably, human ACE2 for entry," the authors of the study noted, news agency PTI reported.  "Our study demonstrates the first case of ACE2 usage in MERS-related viruses, shedding light on a potential bio-safety threat of the human emergence of an ACE2 using "MERS-CoV-2" with both high fatality and transmission rate," they said.

Notably, ACE2 is a receptor protein on cells that provides the hook for coronavirus to affect the larger part of our body cells.

ACE2 is a receptor protein on cells that provides the entry point for the coronavirus to hook into and infect a wide range of cells.

They also warned that infection with NeoCov could not be cross-neutralised by antibodies targeting SARS-CoV-2 or MERS-CoV. With inputs from PTINever miss a story!

Jeremy Clarkson and Kaleb anger health & safety groups in Clarkson's Farm series 2
Jeremy Clarkson has already angered health and safety groups ahead of series two of his hit show Clarkson's Farm. The 61-year-old presenter has taken on the world of farming and shared some controversial promo snaps ahead of the new series with his co-star Kaleb Cooper.Amazon Prime Video dropped three first look images as production on the second season continued at the famous Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton. In one snap, The Grand Tour host can be seen driving a cultivator with Kaleb lying in the weigh box at the front.Since the release of the photos, the manager of the Farm Safety Foundation Stephanie Berkeley has told Farmers Weekly that the Amazon Prime show could have encouraged more responsible use of farm equipment. She said: "This programme could be a great way to help improve this, so it is a pity that they chose to use this photo displaying such poor safety behaviour."Agriculture continues to have the poorest safety record of any occupation in the UK and we are working hard to change that."Elizabeth Creed, farm safety consultant at the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, said it was "highly disappointed" with the promo snap for the second series. She said: "It is frustrating that the team at Clarkson’s Farm did not recognise that their platform has a huge potential for influencing and encouraging a positive safety culture in farming."We have suffered a number of fatal incidents this year."The farming documentary follows new farmer Jeremy on his day-to-day life running his Cotwolds, Oxfordshire, farm looking after livestock and growing crops.A spokesperson for Clarkson's Farm has said in a statement: "Our first series showed Jeremy has great respect for the farming community."However, its remit (or the

CVS removes COVID-19 test purchasing limits
CVS is no longer limiting the number of over-the-counter coronavirus at-home tests consumers can purchase at its stores. "We’ve worked with our vendors to increase inventory of OTC COVID-19 tests and have removed all product limits on those products at CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide and on CVS.com," a CVS spokesperson told FOX Business. Although CVS never ran out of stock, some areas had strained inventory as cases, driven by the omicron variant, mounted. In December, CVS was one of a handful of companies, including Amazon and Walgreens, that announced a limit on the amount of at-home tests customers can purchase due to the omicron variant, which is now the dominant variant in the U.S. At the time, CVS customers were limited to six at-home test kits per purchase of its five over-the-counter offerings, including Abbott BinaxNOW, Acon FlowFlex, Quidel Quickvue, Ellume, and Pixel by LabCorp. Now, not only is there no longer a limit on the number of tests a consumer can purchase but the tests are also covered by most insurance policies. The Biden administration announced in January that private health insurers will be required to cover up to eight home COVID-19 tests per month for people on their plans. Americans will be able to either purchase home testing kits for free under their insurance or submit receipts for the tests for reimbursement, up to the monthly per-person limit."Particularly, in the early stages of this program, we strongly encourage customers to save their receipt(s) as they may need to submit them to their insurer," the spokesperson added. AdvertisementFOX Business' Julia Musto and Lucas Manfredi contributed to this report.

Failure remove their music from Spotify over COVID controversy: “Enough is enough”
Failure are the latest act to announce they’re pulling their music from Spotify following the ongoing COVID controversy involving Joe Rogan.Last month hundreds of scientists and medical professionals asked Spotify to address COVID misinformation on its platform, sparked by comments made on The Joe Rogan Experience.More than 270 members of the science and medical community signed the open letter, which called Rogan’s actions “not only objectionable and offensive but also medically and culturally dangerous”.Soon after, Neil Young demanded that his music be pulled from Spotify, asserting in a since-deleted open letter to his management that content like Rogan’s podcast “spread[s] false information about vaccines”.The streaming platform obliged, later confirming that Young’s content would indeed be removed from the platform.Other musicians and entertainers have since followed suit in removing their music and content from the platform including Janis Joplin, Graham Nash and Stewart Lee.Now, in a lengthy Facebook statement, cult alternative rockers Failure have announced that they too are planning to remove their music from Spotify in protest of the service platforming misinformation about the coronavirus vaccine as well as its overall business model.“Failure have wrestled with the question of Spotify and whether to have our newest music, which we control, on the platform,” the band began their statement.

Sharon Stone calls Joe Rogan “dangerous” over COVID misinformation
COVID vaccines. The actor hit out at the podcaster in light of COVID misinformation spreading on his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, which Rogan works on in an exclusive deal with Spotify.More than 270 members of the science and medical community signed an open letter, which called Rogan’s actions “not only objectionable and offensive but also medically and culturally dangerous”.“COVID is not an opinion-based situation and Mr Rogan thinking that his opinion or disclaimer for the lives he personally has affected and caused losses of – it’s not an opinion,” Stone said to TMZ.“Mr Rogan is risking people’s lives with his idiocy and his professing that his thoughts about COVID are opinions.“Infectious diseases are science, and they are fact-based situations, so the pretence that these are opinions is dangerous.“He should put a disclaimer that he’s an asshole and that his behaviour is dangerous and affecting people’s lives and deaths.”Rogan publicly responded to the situation earlier this week (January 31), as many artists have started removing their music from Spotify in protest. In a video clip posted to Instagram, Rogan addressed “some of the controversy that’s been going on over the past few days”.He told fans: “I don’t always get it right. I will do my best to try to balance out these more controversial viewpoints with other people perspectives so we can maybe find a better point of view.”Admitting that it is a “strange responsibility to have this many views and listeners,” he promised “to do my best in the future to balance things out”.
