close schools in Scotland again if that's what it takes to stop the spread of Covid, a leading teaching union has warned. It comes as Holyrood ministers prepare to publish a framework later this week which will better explain the criteria for introducing local lockdowns in the future.
The SNP leader has repeatedly said she does not want to close schools again, as was the case in March as a result of the first national lockdown.EIS, the country's biggest teaching union, has said clarity must be given to schools on the conditions of their closure if such a situation arises.
Union boss Larry Flanagan said shutting schools, whether at local or national level, should be considered to control the spread of the virus, adding sufficient notice.
