More than 250,000 Brits who’ve survived coronavirus should be considered for a flu vaccine this winter, the government’s scientific advisors have said.
The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) made the suggestion amid fears previous sufferers might be more vulnerable to other illnesses in future.
Minutes of the SAGE meeting on July 9, published this week, state: “It is unclear whether recovered Covid-19 sufferers have increased susceptibility to other winter viruses. “They should be considered for flu vaccination.” Despite the advice, Covid-19 survivors are not among those lined up to get a free flu jab this winter.
