NEW DELHI : In a major Cabinet reshuffling, the union minister S.P. Singh Baghel has been shifted to the ministry of health & family welfare as minister of state (health) from the law ministry.
A press communication from President’s Secretariat issued on Thursday stated, “The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has been pleased to direct that Prof.
S.P. Singh Baghel, Minister of State be assigned as Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in place of Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice." The outgoing minister of state (health) is Bharati Pravin Pawar who was holding the charge since July 2021, during the peak time of covid-19 pandemic when the country was hit by the second wave.
Pawar in her tenure took multiple steps in strengthening the healthcare system. Earlier in the day, the statement issued by the President of India said that it has appointed Kiren Rijiju as the Union Minister of Earth Sciences who was previously a law minister while Arjun Ram Meghwal has been given a charge of as new law minister..
