LOWER MERION, Pa. - A Pennsylvania high school teacher is facing charges after investigators say he posed as a teenage girl on a social media app to solicit naked pictures from young girls. Jeremy Schobel, 32, was arrested Wednesday when federal authorities acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children searched his home in Philadelphia. A criminal complaint alleges that Schobel, an English teacher at Harriton High School in Lower Merion, posed as a 17-year-old girl on a social media app called Yubo. Schobel, according to a court documents, was allegedly using the app to find a girl-to-girl relationship and redirecting conversations to Snapchat where he would ask for explicit images. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESYubo closed two accounts that investigators said were linked to Schobel and contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a user "grooming minors" online. Authorities say after being arrest Schobel admitted to creating both fake profiles and posing as an underage girl to solicit explicit images of teenage girls. He also admitted to communicating with girls between 16-years-old and 18-years-old for years prior to his recent arrest, according to a criminal complaint. In a letter to families, the Lower Merion School District said they are not aware of any inappropriate interactions between Schobel and students.

WASHINGTON - The family of Hae Min Lee is calling on Maryland's Supreme Court to hear their appeal, saying that while a lower court decision to reinstate the conviction of Adnan Syed in March remedied what they saw as a violation of victim’s rights, there’s one aspect they still feel needs to be addressed.   The attorney for Lee’s family filed a Petition for Writ of Certiorari in the Supreme Court Thursday. In the petition, Young Lee, the brother of Hae Min Lee, asks the state Supreme Court to rule that victims of crime in Maryland have a right to be heard and challenge evidence in hearings that could vacate convictions, such as the one that reversed the verdict in Syed's 20-year-old case. "The Maryland Declaration of Rights requires that state agents treat crime victims with dignity, respect and sensitivity. That right to dignity means here that Young Lee should have the right to meaningfully participate in a hearing that could potentially vacate a murder conviction.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia City Council is now taking up the issue of illegal street racing days after illegal car meet-ups across the city culminated in a deadly officer-involved shooting.6th District Councilmember Mike Driscoll introduced an "anti-drifting" bill on Thursday that would define "drifting," as well as "doughnuts" and "spin-outs," in the city’s reckless driving code. The bill would allow penalties of $2,000 for participants, and the ability for police to seize any vehicle that is being used to "drift" on city property.Driscoll says the bill was in the works, but after seeing videos and aftermath of the illegal meet-up at Cottman and Torresdale Avenue in his district last weekend, he wanted to get it out this week.It was co-signed by Councilmember Mark Squilla and Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson, and will now head to committee."We have to send a strong message that we’re not going to tolerate this, and I tell you what, once we start seizing this vehicles, I think we’re going to get their attention," Driscoll said.The introduction of the bill comes on the same day 18-year-old Anthony Allegrini Jr. was laid to rest.
