Ruth Langsford has revealed why she has been missing from Loose Women all week as the presenter shared that she is suffering from a chest infection.

The ITV panellist has been absent from the programme all week, with the 63-year-old explaining that she is busy trying to nurse herself back to health.Taking to her Instagram story today, Ruth shared a picture of a steam vaporizer as well as some lemon and ginger tea, telling her followers that she is "trying everything" to recover from a "lurgy." She wrote: “My 'lurgy' is actually a chest infection!

So here I am on antibiotics and a steam vaporizer twice a day! I'm trying everything!" Earlier this week, she also shared herself trying another traditional method in an attempt to feel better as she wrote: "Still got the lurgy!" with an angry face emoji.

She continued: "So today I'm going again with the hot toddy... someone's told me to add Turmeric (which I don't like much)." She then asked her followers for some advice, writing: "Any other remedies gratefully received!" Later, she opted to beat her infection by catching up on some rest as she posted an image of herself cuddled up in bed with her dog. "Right back to bed!" Ruth said, before calling her pooch her 'sick companion.' It comes as Ruth recently opened up on the show about how she met her husband Eamonn Holmes.
