Easter heatwave with pubs sending an SOS for more beer in the biggest booze-up of the decade.The first bank holiday without Covid restrictions since Christmas 2019 left breweries rushing to order extra deliveries of drinks.Bars asked for bigger-than-usual orders as the knees-up coincided with a spell of much-needed warmer weather.Some 85 million pints were drunk in pubs over the Easter weekend, the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) said.And 65 million pints were knocked back at home over the weekend, supermarket and off-licence sales trends show.The BBPA said: “It’s the first holiday period since Covid and good news for beer sales across the UK.“Off-trade sales for home consumption are also increasing due to the nice weather.“Pubs have not been able to trade properly over a long weekend since 2019.
