Police: Three suspects flee after double shooting leaves two men critical in West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a shooting that left one man critically injured at a Kensington basketball court on Tuesday night.At around 8:36 p.m., police say they responded to East Ontario Street at the McVeigh playground and basketball court, for reports of a shooting.Upon arrival, authorities say they found a 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the chest, leg, and foot. MORE HEADLINES Authorities say the victim was transported to Temple University Hospital where he was placed in critical condition. No arrest was made in this incident and no weapon was recovered, according to police. Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to contact the police.

DELAND, Fla. - A naked Florida man who was armed with a machete when he allegedly tried to steal another man's clothes was arrested Monday morning at a DeLand gas station, according to the Volusia Sheriff's Office. Shortly before 10 a.m., deputies arrived to an area near the Volusia County Fairgrounds after a surveyor working in the area said the suspect – later identified as 34-year-old Brandon Wright – was picking palmetto berries in the woods, and suddenly approached him with a large machete-style knife and demanded his clothes, wallet and phone. When the surveyor began to comply with Wright's demands, Wright reportedly threw the machete at him, along with a handful of palmetto berries, before taking off into the brush and then into a white Dodge Challenger. Deputies said the handle of the machete bounced off the surveyor's chest, leaving him uninjured. Moments later, Wright's vehicle passed a license plate reader in the DeLand area and soon after, law enforcement received a report of a naked man outside a gas station on S.

PHILADELPHIA - Three teenagers were shot outside of a Popeyes in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia, authorities say. According to police, the shooting happened Monday night at 4th Street and Lehigh Avenue, after a Popeyes store closed. The three teenagers were all employees of the Popeyes location, authorities told FOX 29's Steve Keeley. Police say the employees were sitting in a car when they were shot. One of the teens died from his injuries and the other two employees are in the hospital, authorities say.   The car the employees were in could be seen riddled with bullet holes and evidence markers were placed in the street as police analyzed the crime scene. Authorities have not released any other information about the shooting or a possible motive in the case. A late night shooting in North Philadelphia left 1 dead and two others injured, police say. PHILADELPHIA - An encampment that was established to protest the sale of The University City Townhomes, one of the last remaining affordable housing units in West Philadelphia, has been shut down by police. On Friday, a Philadelphia judge said the encampment must be disassembled by Monday at 9 a.m., but residents said they would not budge as the city scrambled to find suitable alternatives. By Monday, the encampment was still set up as residents protested. Residents of an affordable housing unit in West Philadelphia are protesting the sale of the building by staying in an encampment on the property.
