LOS ANGELES - Authorities Friday said foul play was not suspected at this time in the death of Valentin Broeksmit, the self-described "comically terrible spy" who is believed to have worked with federal authorities investigating the activities of Deutsche Bank and its ties with former President Donald Trump.Broeksmit, 45, was found dead about 7 a.m. Monday on the campus of Woodrow Wilson High School in the 4500 block of Multnomah Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.The Los Angeles County coroner's office has listed the cause of his death as "deferred pending additional investigation."Officers were sent to the school on a "death investigation" call, the LAPD reported."Upon arrival, the officers were directed by school staff to the location of the man, who was later identified as Valentin Broeksmit," police said in a statement released on Friday."Broeksmit was found lying on the ground in a courtyard of the school," police said.

PHILADELPHIA - As investigators work to determine what sparked a Kensington rowhome fire that killed a father and his three children last weekend, Philadelphia is battling a backlog of unfulfilled smoke alarm requests.Yamalier, 5, Yadriel, 9, and 12-year-old Alexangel Arroyo-Santana perished in a rowhome fire early Sunday morning on the 3200 block of Hartville Street in Kensington. Neighbors say their father, Alexis, also died in the blaze after he told his wife to jump out a window to safety while he went further into the home to save the children. "He had a chance to jump out, but he ended up telling his wife to jump out of the window. He’ll get the children, so he died a hero," a neighbor who asked to remain anonymous said.Fire investigators have not pinpointed what started the fire, but they said no smoke alarms were sounding when firefighters arrived. The School District of Philadelphia identified three children killed in a rowhome fire as Yamalier, 5, Yadriel, 9, and 12-year-old Alexangel.

PHILADELPHIA - As gun violence continues to rise across Pennsylvania, officials declare a plan to get ghost guns off the streets.Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced Friday that the state is ready to implement new ghost guns regulations.The new regulations will require a background check for partially manufactured frames and receivers at point of sale.Dealers and gunsmiths will also be required to serialize and inventory any unregistered firearms that come into their business.Wolf said ghost guns are an "untraceable threat to society" that are being seized and recovered from crime scenes at an alarming rate."The numbers don’t lie," he said.

Suspect in custody after man dies in his home, police say.

PHILADELPHIA - A ride-share driver was on the job when police say he was shot in the back Thursday night.The shooting occurred at Cobbs Creek and Delancey streets in West Philadelphia around 9:58 p.m.The 50-year-old driver was shot in the back and arm by a man he was transporting, according to police.

KING OF PRUSSIA - The search is on for suspects after a shooting left a man injured and a children's hospital on edge Wednesday night.Police were called to the parking garage of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in King of Prussia for reports of shots fired around 9:39 p.m.The hospital was placed on lockdown when officers arrived at the scene. However, it was later discovered shots were actually fired in the parking garage of the Smith Valley Forge apartment complex, which is directly adjacent to CHOP.Police say at least two suspects fired at each as they found multiple shell casing, bullet fragments and blood at the scene. A silver Honda and white Mazda were reportedly seen leaving the parking garage immediately after the shooting.

UPPER MERION, Pa. - Authorities in Montgomery County are searching for the occupants of two cars they believe may be connected to a parking garage shooting that injured two people.Officers from the Upper Merion Township Police Department were called to the area of North Gulp Road and Goddard Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday for reports of gunshots. Police originally thought the gunshots came from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's parking garage, which caused a brief lockdown at the hospital.

Frye was allegedly captured on surveillance camera punching 41-year-old Eric Pope outside Tabu Lounge and Sports in Center City.Police say surveillance video from Apr.16 shows Pope being escorted out of the bar around 1 a.m.

PHILADELPHIA - A 55-year-old man was shot multiple times outside a strip mall in West Philadelphia Wednesday night.Police say shots were fired after the victim was confronted by three men as he exited a store on 58th Street and Baltimore around 9 p.m.Shots rang out at strip mall in West Philadelphia.  The victim told police he returned fire with his licensed gun.He suffered gunshot wounds to his stomach, lower back and leg, but is in stable condition, according to police.One bullet also struck his ballistic vest, which authorities say may have saved his life. EDGEWATER PARK, N.J. - A man is dead and a woman is injured after authorities say they were found shot inside a car Wednesday night in Burlington County. According to investigators, the victims were shot while sitting inside a car outside a property on the 200 block of Ivy Road around 6:30 p.m. The unnamed man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to Cooper University Medical Center in unknown condition, police said. Evidence markets littered the front of the property and several bullet holes peppered the victim's car.

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia community pools are on top of officials minds as they make every effort to properly staff the pools in time for summer."We’re looking for lifeguards," Kathryn Ott Lovell said.Philadelphia’s Commissioner of Parks and Rec, her staff and City Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson going door-to-door in Southwest Philly to recruit lifeguards. PHOENIX - Investigators allege an Arizona man assaulted a flight attendant during a Delta flight to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.According to court documents, FBI investigators accuse Christopher Alexander Morgan is accused of interfering with a flight crew member.The incident happened onboard Delta flight 2908, which was flying from Phoenix from Atlanta on April 22.According to investigators, Morgan was uncooperative prior to the flight taking off, and refused to comply with instructions from flight crews. During the flight, Morgan was offered a non-alcoholic beverage when he requested a second alcoholic drink, which angered him.At this point, investigators said Morgan used profanity and a homophobic slur on the flight attendant, and threw a glass of ice at him.

PHILADELPHIA - Hundreds of people from all over the country have responded to a Philadelphia woman's dying wish.  Valerie Alexander of Old City wants to make sure that her dog, Rosie, who she’s had for five years, is taken care of before she dies. "She’s part of my family," said Alexander.

LINDENWOLD, N.J. - A Camden County man is facing murder charges in a deadly street shooting that happened last week in Lindenwold.Trayshawn Simpson, 20, was taken into custody Wednesday in Delaware and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 25-year-old Alvin Redd.Officers from the Lindenwold Police Department were called to the 400 block of West Park Avenue on the night of Apr. 22 for reports of gunshots.
