MILWAUKEE - A suspect was shot by Milwaukee police after he allegedly opened fire inside the District 5 lobby on Friday, Feb. 25.Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said the suspect, identified as a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, walked in around 3 p.m.

MILWAUKEE - A 23-year-old Milwaukee man entered Milwaukee Police District 5 shortly after 3 p.m. Friday and fired several shots at police, Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said.Officers returned fire as the suspect fled on foot out of the building.

PHILADELPHIA - Prosecutors in the trial of Amtrak engineer Brandon Bostian told jurors Bostian was "grossly negligent" when his train derailed in 2015 killing eight.Bostian, 38, is charged with 8 counts of involuntary manslaughter and hundreds of charges of reckless endangerment in the crash along the Frankford Curve.The prosecution in opening statements argued Bostian "had one job and it was to control the speed of his train", but he failed.Christopher Phillips, a prosecutor in the office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General, said Bostian "had no chance of making that turn" when all 7 train cars derailed while on the "most dangerous part of the track," the Frankford Curve.The defense lays the blame squarely on the backs of what it calls "criminals" who threw rocks at two trains that night as Bostian was rolling through on his train.The trial began Thursday for Brandon Bostian, the Amtrak engineer charged in a deadly high-speed derailment that occurred back in 2015 in Philadelphia."This is the fault of the rock-throwers," defense attorney Robert Goggin said. "They caused the catastrophe." The defense also claims Amtrak failed to take precautions knowing the rock-throwers were out there along the rails. The first witnesses were police officers and a medical examiner, who took jurors through a series of pictures and described the injuries of the dead.Another witness described, after being thrown from the train, and calling for help, she asked Bostian several times to use his cell phone to call her father before he relented and gave her the phone.One of those injured in the Amtrak Train 188 derailment last year was Lenny Knobbs.

LANGHORNE, Pa. - A man is facing charges after authorities said he choked a paramedic when he was asked to wear a mask at a Bucks County hospital. Officers from the Fall Township Police Department on Monday responded to Jefferson Bucks Hospital for reports of a man who assaulted a paramedic. According to police, the paramedic told police 42-year-old Jeffrey Choi grabbed his neck when he was told to put on a mask. Another paramedic and hospital staff restrained Choi until officers arrived, police said. Choi has been charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is asking for the public's help with information about a West Philadelphia shooting from October 8, 2021. According to police, the incident happened just before 1:30 a.m.

Police are urging Scots to be vigilant following a Covid-19 text scam that is currently doing the rounds.

CHELTENHAM, Pa. - A carjacking suspect and another person were arrested Thursday in Montgomery County after police say they tried to flee when officers were closing in on their car. The Cheltenham Police Department said a vehicle believed to have been carjacked out of Philadelphia was spotted in the parking lot of Cheltenham High School around 4 p.m. One of the people inside the vehicle was believed to be armed with a handgun, according to information given to the department by the Philadelphia Carjacking Task Force. When marked patrol cars approached the vehicle, police say the driver sped off and lead officers on a brief pursuit that ended when the driver slammed into another car. Three people got out of the car and tried to run away, but two were quickly detained.

Philadelphia police are searching for missing 6-year-old Naseer Humphrey.  PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for a missing 6-year-old who was last seen with his father two weeks ago.Naseer Humphrey, who lives with his mother on the 1300 block of 71st Street, was last seen with his father, 40-year-old Abdul Humphrey.The two were spotted leaving Philadelphia police's 35th district headquarters on February 11 around 6 p.m, according to police.Authorities say a custody order required Abdul to return Naseer to his mother on February 13, but that did not happen.According to police, neither Abdul or Naseer have been located.RELATED: Philadelphia mother, son have not been seen since Tuesday morningNaseer is 4-feet tall and 73 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

PONTIAC, Mich. - New details about the mental state of Ethan Crumbley, the alleged Oxford High School shooter, were revealed in troubling text messages read during the ongoing preliminary hearing for his parents, who are also facing involuntary manslaughter charges.His parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley, were each charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter days after their son was arrested in the Nov. 30 shooting — which left four students dead and seven others seriously hurt.The second day of a preliminary exam on Thursday kicked off with testimony about the thousands of text messages sent between Ethan Crumbley, now 15, and a friend prior to the mass shooting.In an exchange on April 5, 2021, prosecutors described "quite a bit" of discussion about his mental state in which Ethan Crumbley told his friend he was "f----- up," experiencing hallucinations, and had asked his parents for help."Now my mom thinks I take drugs," one text read, according to the prosecutor.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for two suspects accused of robbing two people at gunpoint before abducting one of them from a store in Logan.Police say the incident happened on Wednesday around 9:41 p.m.Officers responded to a report of gunshots and an abduction at the 4900 block of North Broad Street.A 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were inside a Chinese store on the corner of Broad and Rockland Street, according to police.Authorities say the man walked out of the store where one of the suspects took his car keys and chain at gunpoint.The suspect shot at him three times.

Engineer Brandon Bostian, 38, faces multiple charges in the deadly 2015 crash.  PHILADELPHIA - The trial will begin Thursday for the Amtrak engineer charged in a deadly high-speed derailment that occurred back in 2015 in Philadelphia. Eight people died and nearly 200 were hurt when a New York-bound train jumped the track as it rounded the ‘Frankford Curve’ at more than twice the 50 mph speed limit in May 2015. Engineer Brandon Bostian, 38, faces multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment, in the case. A jury will decide the fate of Brandon Bostian, who was behind the controls when Amtrak Northeast regional train 188 crashed on May 12, 2015. Analyst Bruce Gordon joins FOX 29 with more.National Transportation Safety Board investigators concluded Bostian lost his bearings while distracted by radio chatter about a nearby train that had been struck by a rock.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - New Jersey parents want answers after they claimed their young son came home from daycare with unexplained bruises.Shane Camardo said he pulled his 5-year-old son Cole, who has autism, out of Barclay Early Childhood Center in Cherry Hill due to safety concerns and a lack of communication."We just kind of hope and assumed it was from the playground," Shane said. LOWER OXFORD TWP, Pa. - Authorities in Delaware County have made an arrest in the stabbing death of a Lincoln University student who was killed during a brawl at a dorm that injured two others.Delaware County District Attorney Deb Ryan and Lincoln University Police will hold a press conference Thursday to announce the arrest of 39-year-old Nydira Smith.Smith, a Philadelphia resident, is being charged with the murder of 21-year-old Jawine Evans during the dorm room brawl on Feb. 16. Officers responded to the campus in Lower Oxford Township around 9:30 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Police said a man was found fatally shot in the living room of an Overbrook Park home on Wednesday night. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of North 68th Street around 8 p.m. for reports of an unresponsive man. Police said the 48-year-old victim was in the first-floor living room with a gunshot wound to the head.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police and local authorities are widening their search for accomplices of a carjacking ring after its accused leader was arrested and charged in connection to two deadly vehicle thefts. The Philadelphia Police Department on Tuesday announced the arrest of 28-year-old Jonathan Akubu on charges of murder, aggravated assault, arson and carjacking. Investigators linked Akubu to the Feb.

Police say a 20-year-old man suffered a non-fatal-gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon in North Philadelphia.

Las Vegas police are continuing to investigate the death of a child after his body was found in a freezer in a home where his mother and her boyfriend were living, officials said.The mother’s boyfriend was arrested as a suspect and was detained on two kidnapping charges and a murder charge, after authorities searched the home and found the body of the preschool-age boy, who was last seen in Dec., Fox 5 of Las Vegas reported. The investigation into the home started after the mother gave a note to her other child, who was instructed to give it to their elementary school teacher, officials said.RELATED: 78-year-old woman robbed while praying in churchThe note said the mother was being held against her will and that she has not seen her son since Dec. 11., and assumed he was dead, Fox 5 reported. The teacher forwarded the note to Clark County School District Police Department officers, who then called Las Vegas police, officials said.Police officers surveilled the home until they saw the couple leave at about 10 a.m.

KENT, Wash. - Police rescued a disabled woman who was stuck in a car for nine days after it was towed from a gas station parking lot to a tow yard in Burien. According to Kent Police, the woman was reported missing by her sister after she hadn't been seen since earlier in the month.Officers determined that the last time the woman was seen was on Feb. 5 with her mother, a 45-year-old Kent resident.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Police in Jenkintown say they have arrested a man for his role in the "road rage"-style assault on a woman that happened on February 10. Police say the incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. that Thursday.According to police, the female victim turned into a parking lot from Old York Road after an enraged motorist began tailgating her. The man that was following her, continued to do so and pulled his car around to block her path of travel. Police say the man then approach the victim's vehicle and when she lowered her window, he punched her in the face, grabbed her cell phone from her lap, and smashed it on the ground before fleeing from the scene. After a thorough investigation, police were able to identify the suspect as 42-year-old Tyree Darnell Lawson.

BRENTWOOD, Calif. - A woman had her scalp torn off by a Brentwood police dog after she shoplifted some perfume and makeup from a nearby mall, video obtained by KTVU shows, raising serious questions about when and why K-9 units are deployed. Talmika Bates, then 24, is seen in the video provided by her lawyers screaming and wailing in pain. The skin on top of her head was ripped off exposing blood and bone. "Help me! The dog is biting me," she screams.

Gloria Reyes PHOENIX - Court documents show police in Phoenix have arrested a homeless woman for allegedly shooting and killing her own father.The suspect, identified in court documents as Gloria Loreal Reyes, was arrested on the morning of Feb. 21.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has announced charges in the shooting of a 56-year-old woman in Germantown.The woman, who has not been named by police, was shot multiple times in the West Oak Lane section of the city on Monday.The shooting happened inside a home on the 100 block of Mayland Street at approximately 3:18 p.m.Police say the woman was shot multiple times throughout her body before she was taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition.On Tuesday, Krasner announced charges against 45-year-old Sadheim Edens, who investigators say shot the woman in his mother's home.According to the DA's office, Edens' mother and the victim are domestic partners.

The investigation into an alleged attack on a natural gas pipeline worksite in northern B.C. continues, say the Mounties, who released three video clips on Tuesday of the incident.

PHILADELPHIA - A heartbroken Philadelphia mother is begging for justice after her son died in a broad daylight street shooting a week ago in Germantown. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of East Duval Street around noon on Feb. 15 for reports of a shooting. Police found 26-year-old Kadene Bryant lying on the street with three deadly gunshot wounds to the head. Mignon Bryant, the victim's mother, said Kadene was the father of a 4-year-old and soon-to-be fiancé. Police say 26-year-old Kadene Bryant was shot and killed in broad daylight in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Authorities in Tennessee are looking for a group of women who robbed a 78-year-old woman while she prayed in church.Clarksville police said the robbery happened Feb. 9 inside the sanctuary at Hilldale Baptist Church.Officers said the elderly woman was praying when two women approached her, asking for prayers as well.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia judge dismissed assault and other charges Tuesday against two former city police officers who are brothers, stemming from an off-duty encounter in which they allegedly injured a man they mistakenly thought was breaking into cars.Prosecutors said James Smith, 53, and Patrick Smith, 54, physically confronted a 27-year-old pedestrian with Asperger's syndrome in a shopping center parking lot in August 2020, leaving him with multiple injuries. The brothers allegedly lied about being part of a town watch.Municipal Court Judge William Austin Meehan Jr.

PHILADELPHIA - A young man is dead after police say he was shot multiple times Monday afternoon in Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 1700 block of Brill Street around 4 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Police said a 21-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds throughout the body. He was brought to a Philadelphia hospital where police say he died. No arrests were reported immediately following the deadly shooting.

Shalynn Reed Taylor, 43, is facing a list of charges following a fight at Coatesville Area Senior High that injured at least 5.

One person is in custody amid an ongoing operation with a heavy police presence at the Rideau Centre in downtown Ottawa.

New Zealand anti-vaccine protesters pelted police with a "stinging substance" sending three to hospital with injuries early today, as tension spilled over in an angry weeks-long protest.

New Zealand police line, narrowly avoiding officers, while other protesters sprayed officers with a stinging substance, police said Tuesday, as they tightened a cordon around a convoy that has been camped outside Parliament for two weeks.The clashes in the capital of Wellington came a day after police reported that some of the protesters had thrown human feces at them. Faced with sprinklers, New Zealand anti-vaccine mandate protesters dig trenches Police Assistant Commissioner Richard Chambers told reporters the actions of some of the protesters, who oppose coronavirus vaccine mandates, were unacceptable and would be dealt with assertively.“Our focus remains on opening the roads up to Wellingtonians and doing our absolute best to restore peaceful protest,” Chambers said.
