Police: Person of interest in custody after woman sexually assaulted at gunpoint in SEPTA station

SOMERSET, Wis. (FOX 9) - Police say a 52-year-old man from Minnesota went on a stabbing spree while tubing on the Apple River in Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon, killing a 17-year-old boy, who was also from Minnesota, and critically injuring four other people. The suspect was not previously known to local law enforcement and is currently in custody at the St. Croix County Jail, pending charges, Knudson said.

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The University of West Georgia community in a state of shock after police announced that one of its professors killed one of its students.Police say 47-year-old Richard Sigman shot 18-year-old Anna Jones at a parking deck near Adamson Square around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.Friends rushed Jones to Tanner Medical Center, where doctors were unable to save her."It was shocking," said Cheyenne Sexton, who told FOX 5 that she has known Jones for years.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Seven people are hurt after someone began shooting during a large fight in downtown Orlando early Sunday, according to police. The Orlando Police Department said the shooting happened at 2 a.m. in the area of Wall Street Plaza – a complex of bars, restaurants and nightclubs – near South Orange Avenue, as the venues were closing. Police said it appears the victims were grazed by bullets.

PHILADELPHIA - Police say several shots were fired in Point Breeze Saturday evening, leaving one man dead.The victim, a 45-year-old man, was reportedly shot multiple times on the 2000 block of Dickinson Street around 5:30 p.m.He was struck three times in the torso, once in the back and once in the leg, according to police.Police say he was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. No arrests have been made, and no gun recovered.

PHILADELPHIA - A fire ripped through a South Street Staple on Friday, leaving its community shocked and unsure if the iconic shop would ever open its doors again.Fire crews responded to a multi-alarm fire at Jim’s Steaks on South Street around 9:30 a.m.Smoke poured from the building throughout the morning as firefighters worked both inside and outside the building. It was declared under control around 1:30 p.m.An assistant manager told FOX 29 that she noticed it was extremely warm inside, and exited with other workers after she started smelling smoke.

Robert Minchew with HCSO Homicide division. A 7-year-old boy was found dead just hours after he was reported missing from his home in north Harris County, authorities say.The constable’s office responded to the scene to gather information and began searching for the boy.Authorities say constable deputies were searching inside the home when they found the boy inside the top-loading washing machine.It is not clear at this time how the boy died or how he ended up in the washing machine.The sheriff’s office says the boy was a foster child who may have been adopted in 2019.According to HCSO, the father was at home, and the mom is believed to be a local hospital worker who just got off her shift when he was reported missing.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - New bodycam video shows the immediate moments after a driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed through a toll booth at Daytona Beach, before driving across the beach and coming to a stop at the edge of the ocean. Five people were injured, including a child who was struck while playing in the water, officials said.Volusia County Beach Safety officials said that the driver possibly suffered a seizure before the crash, though still remains under investigation. The video shows paramedics and lifeguards tending to a five-year-old child –  later identified as David Alamos – as his father stands next to his side."I need a helicopter! I've got a pediatric trauma alert," a first responder says in the video.David – who was visiting from Tennessee with his family – was treated for injuries to his chest and arm and spent Sunday night at Halifax Health Medical Center.

UPPER CHICHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Police say the pick-up truck that fatally hit a man walking on I-95 last weekend has been located in Delaware.A 44-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene after he was reportedly struck by a blue Ford F-150 on I-95 North in Upper Chichester Township on July 23.Police say the truck swerved onto the right shoulder when it hit the man, another truck and a motorcycle, then fled.Family later identified the victim as Maurice Pinkard, a father of six children. PHILADELPHIAnews - A man who fled from officers in his car, then on foot has been arrested and charged, according to Philadelphia police.Police saw multiple vehicles fleeing a parking lot on the 4000 block of Cottman Avenue Friday night when responding to reports of a person with a gun.A short time later, officers found a white sedan crashed in a rear alleyway on the 4000 block of Glendale Street. Police say a firearm was found inside.The driver, who reportedly fled on foot, was found by police on the 1300 block of East Lycoming Street.

SHARON HILL, Pa. - An investigative report looking at Sharon Hill Borough's police policies and procedures in the wake of a police shooting that killed 8-year-old Fanta Bility last year was released late Friday, but the report was largely redacted, with any findings and recommendations obscured from public view.The three former officers who fired their weapons in the direction of a crowd leaving a high school football game just outside of Philadelphia, killing Bility and injuring three others, are facing manslaughter and reckless endangerment charges. The borough council voted to fire the officers and to hire an outside special counsel, promising accountability and transparency.The report was given to the borough council almost a month ago.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia street was renamed Friday to honor America's oldest living Olympic medalist, Herb Douglas. "If you had told me when I was born that a street would be named after me, I could never fathom that, but here it is," Douglas said. The intersection of Cranston and Ford roads in West Philadelphia now bears the name ‘Herb Douglas Way’ following a Friday commemoration ceremony. Douglas earned the bronze medal in the 1948 Summer Olympics, competing in the high jump. He missed silver to Australia's Theo Bruce by just .5 an inch. Douglas and fellow African-American Willie Steele shared the podium in the event. "I was born 59-years after slavery," Douglas said Friday.

A corgi named Arthur is lucky to be alive after he was shot in the head, according to the PSPCA.  (Pennsylvania SPCA)LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. - Arthur the corgi is one lucky pup, according to the Pennsylvania SPCA. The agency says the corgi was "shot between the eyes and seemingly left for dead." After being shot, the dog managed to climb under a fence to a family farm in Lancaster County two weeks ago and the PSPCA was called. The family assumed the injury was from the fence and the PSPCA's affiliate location, Mainline Animal Rescue, took him in, but they knew something wasn't right. Veterinarians noticed that the wound on Arthur's head was large and covered in dirt. The PSPCA says Arthur was in too much pain to let anyone touch him until medication and antibiotics were administered. After being sedated, a Mainline Animal Rescue veterinarian cleaned the injury, took x-rays and identified it as a gunshot wound. The agency shared graphic images of Arthur's injury on Instagram Friday. WARNING: Some readers may find the images distressing.

PHILADELPHIA - Police say a bicyclist is in critical condition after colliding with a car in Center City on Thursday night. According to authorities, the incident happened at 7:50 p.m. in the area of 23rd Street and Walnut Street. A bicyclist, 28, was traveling south on 23rd Street when a vehicle collided with the bicyclist at the intersection, police say. Officials say the driver remained on scene and medics transported the bicyclist to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he is in stable condition. According to police, the investigation is active and ongoing.

ALQUIPPA, Pa. - A Pennsylvania state trooper was recovering from a gunshot wound after the trooper was shot during a struggle with a suspect early Friday, authorities said.Two troopers observed a disturbance on the sidewalk outside the Franklin Mini-Mart, state police said. As the troopers approached, a suspect ran into the store and the troopers followed.According to state police, a struggle ensued and the suspect opened fire, wounding one of the troopers in a lower extremity.MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe trooper was taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh.

Russian tank killed a Canadian fighter who was trying to carry a fallen comrade to safety in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, grieving members of his battalion say.Emile-Antoine Roy-Sirois, 31, from Montreal, died alongside three other foreign fighters on July 18, after his company was ambushed by a Russian tank near the front line in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.It is believed to be the first Canadian death in active combat during the 2022 Russian invasion.“Emile brought humanity to the team,” says one of his comrades, who is known as “Fin.”“He was very kind. The three woman sought by police were captured on store surveillance video stuffing nearly $2k in wigs underneath their shirts.  GLOUCESTER TWP, N.J. - Police in Camden County are searching for three women who they say stole nearly $2k in wigs from a local beauty shop. The Gloucester Township Police Department shared a surveillance video of the three women inside Coco Beauty Supply on Berlin-Cross Keys Road on July 20. According to police, the suspects went to the back of the store and tried on wigs for several minutes. The women then stuffed nearly $2k worth of wigs underneath their shirts and left without paying, police said. Investigators are asking anyone with information on the suspects to contact the Gloucester Township Police Department. 

MAPLE SHADE, N.J. - A New Jersey woman was arrested after investigators said she posed as a state worker and knocked on a family's door to inquire about their infant daughter.Love Hodge, 29, was charged with Impersonating a Public Servant, Burglary and additional offenses. Officers from the Maple Shade Police Department were called to a home on Sunflower Path on July 23 for reports of a suspicious person. The caller told police that a woman came to her door claiming to be an employee with the New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency. Police say the phony employee did not show identification or a business card, and inquired about the woman's 5-month-old daughter.
