Police: Man injured after at least 20 shots fired in North Philadelphia

DENVER, Col. - A wealthy dentist accused of fatally shooting his wife in the heart with a shotgun at the end of an African safari was found guilty of murder and mail fraud on Monday.A jury of six men and six women reached the verdict for Lawrence "Larry" Rudolph following a three week trial and a day and a half of deliberations.Rudolph, 67, was charged with foreign murder in the 2016 death of Bianca Rudolph in Zambia as well as mail fraud for cashing in $4.8 million in life insurance claims in what prosecutors describe as a premeditated crime. Some of the money was paid out of Colorado so he was tried in Denver federal court.He faces a maximum term of life in prison or the death penalty when he is sentenced in February.Rudolph maintained his innocence and the two adult children he had with his wife sat in court to support him during the trial.

Pedestrian killed by car in Burlington County.

PHILADELPHIA - Homicide detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting in Hunting Park. According to authorities, officers received a 911 call for gunshots and a shooting just before midnight on the 3800 block of N Fairhill Street. Police say a 32-year-old man was found lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to his back and leg. Medics pronounced him dead at 12:06 a.m., authorities say. Chief Inspector Scott Small says seven spent shell casings were found a few feet away from the victim. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators believe the shooter was standing very close to the 32-year-old, according to officials. Police say two unattended parked cars were also struck by gunfire. According to authorities, a witness said three people wearing masks pulled up, walked to the victim and one of them shot the victim multiple times. The trio then got back in the car and fled north on the 3800 block of N Fairhill Street, per officials. Police say the investigation is active and ongoing. 

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia is set to receive millions in federal money to address flood concerns nearly a year after the remnants of Hurricane Ida made the Vine Street Expressway into a river. Interstate 676, known locally as the Vine Street Expressway, quickly filled with water when the Schuylkill River overflowed into the city last September. Videos of people kayaking and tubing down the transient waterway quickly filled social media; one man was even spotted backflipping off an overpass into the water. "I looked out and I couldn’t see the street signs, that’s how high the water was," Barbara Krassenstein recalled.

PHILADELPHIA - A South Philadelphia community gathered Monday to remember a local musician who was gunned down outside his family's home. Authorities say 26-year-old Joelill Foy was fatally shot in the neck while sitting outside his family's South Philadelphia home on Sigel Street around 7 p.m. Foy was a member of the singing group ‘Brotherly Love,' an act that performed on Good Day Philadelphia in 2014 and once sang for former President Barrack Obama.Tangalee Lewis, Foy's mother, joined Monday's "Peace, Not Guns" outreach as part of public safety week still in shock about her son's untimely death. Joelill Foy, 26, was shot and killed outside his family's South Philadelphia home, according to police.

PHILADELPHIA - There have been over 750 carjackings in Philadelphia through the first seven months of the year, according to data obtained by FOX 29 from a law enforcement source.The report found that of the 758 total carjackings in Philadelphia between the start of 2022 and July 31, more than 500 involved a gun and over 500 happened when the victim's vehicle was parked. More than 90 delivery drivers have been carjacked in Philadelphia so far this year, and over 30 ride share drivers have been victims. Carjackings that happened while the vehicle was stopped occurred more than 50 times, according to the data first reported by FOX 29's Steve Keeley. Thefts that happened at a gas station, when the vehicle was left running or during an accident combined to account for nearly 60 carjackings.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say more than 150 one-gallon jugs of gasoline were found inside an abandoned West Philadelphia home on Monday night. Police were called to the 100 block of North 59th Street around 9 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a young man was shot to death Monday afternoon in Philadelphia's Frankford section. Investigators say the 19-year-old victim arrived at Frankford-Torresdale Hospital with gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen. The unnamed victim was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to police. Investigators believe the victim was fatally shot on the 4700 block of Frankford Avenue around 3:30 p.m. No arrests were reported immediately following the deadly shooting.

(FOX 9) - The man accused of a stabbing that killed a teenager and injured four others has been charged with murder, according to court documents. Nicolae Miu, 52, of Prior Lake, Minnesota, is charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 17-year-old Isaac Schuman of Stillwater, Minnesota, and four counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide in connection to the Saturday afternoon incident. The four injured victims, a 24-year-old woman from Burnsville, Minnesota, a 20-year-old and 22-year-old male from Luck, Wisconsin, and a 22-year-old male from Elk River, Minnesota, are in stable condition. Their injuries range from serious to critical with stab wounds to their torsos and chest areas, officials said in a news release Sunday.

Santos Diaz, 45 PHILADELPHIA - Police are asking for the public's help to locate a suspect in connection to a shooting that left a baby and teen boy injured this weekend.The 10-month-old baby girl was reportedly shot in the hand on the 2000 block of East Ontario Street Sunday morning.Police say the shooting erupted the morning after a wedding reception, when a guest returned and engaged in a verbal argument.The guest, identified by police as 45-year-old Santos Diaz, reportedly pulled out a handgun, fired four shots at the family, then fled.One shot hit the 10-month-old in the left hand. A 17-year-old boy also suffered a graze wound to the right leg.The baby is said to be in stable condition at CHOP.

PHILADELPHIA - Two people were rushed to the hospital after being attacked by a dog in North Philadelphia, authorities say, According to officials, it happened just after 4 a.m. on the 700 block of Tioga Street. Animal control was spotted on scene and investigators are still working to find out what led to the attack. Authorities say the two people were transported to Temple University Hospital. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESTheir conditions are unknown at this time. No additional details were released at the time and officials did not say what type of dog was involved in the attack. This is a developing story.

CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. - Conflicting reports have led to an investigation after a three-year-old boy was reportedly shot in Chester County this weekend.Police say the child suffered a single gunshot to the torse while inside a parked car at the Caln Plaza Shopping Center around 11:45 a.m. Saturday.The shot was fired from a 9mm handgun, which was recovered at the scene.The boy was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after his father 23-year-old Jameer Walker called for help, according to police.

PHILADELPHIA - A double shooting in North Philadelphia has reportedly left a woman in extremely critical condition and a man injured.Police say the 23-year-old woman was sitting in her car on the 2100 block of North Darien Street when she was shot twice in the head around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.She was transported to Temple University Hospital, where she is said to be in extremely critical condition.A man who was standing next the woman's car was also reportedly shot.

PHILADELPHIA - An investigation is underway after police say a 5-year-old boy was found critically injured and bleeding after falling in Fishtown Saturday evening.Officers responded to a person screaming on East Girard Avenue around 4:48 p.m. when they reportedly found the boy on the ground.Police say he was bleeding from the nose and mouth.The boy was transported to Jefferson Hospital, where he is said to be in critical condition.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. - A fatal shooting is under investigating after it ended with a car crashing into a home early Sunday morning.Police say the shooting happened around midnight on the 1100 block of East Elmer Road in Cumberland County.The victim died as a result of the shooting, according to police.A car also reportedly crashed into a home nearby where the shooting took place.The identity of the victim has to be released, and no information regarding a motive was given.The shooting is under investigation.

SOMERSET, Wis. (FOX 9) - Police say a 52-year-old man from Minnesota went on a stabbing spree while tubing on the Apple River in Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon, killing a 17-year-old boy, who was also from Minnesota, and critically injuring four other people. The suspect was not previously known to local law enforcement and is currently in custody at the St. Croix County Jail, pending charges, Knudson said.

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The University of West Georgia community in a state of shock after police announced that one of its professors killed one of its students.Police say 47-year-old Richard Sigman shot 18-year-old Anna Jones at a parking deck near Adamson Square around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.Friends rushed Jones to Tanner Medical Center, where doctors were unable to save her."It was shocking," said Cheyenne Sexton, who told FOX 5 that she has known Jones for years.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Seven people are hurt after someone began shooting during a large fight in downtown Orlando early Sunday, according to police. The Orlando Police Department said the shooting happened at 2 a.m. in the area of Wall Street Plaza – a complex of bars, restaurants and nightclubs – near South Orange Avenue, as the venues were closing. Police said it appears the victims were grazed by bullets.
