TRENTON, N.J. - A man is fighting for his life after police say he was hit by two vehicles while walking in Trenton Tuesday night, one of which fled the scene.John Giordano, 66, was crossing Route 129 with a baby carriage filled with ice when he was reportedly struck by an SUV that sent him into the left lane, and kept driving.The victim was then run over by a second vehicle, and became trapped underneath. PHILADELPHIA - City and state officials gathered in Northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday to tout the success of an anti-speeding pilot program for Roosevelt Boulevard. PREVIOUS: Speed, red light cameras along Roosevelt Blvd. to begin operating June 1The Roosevelt Boulevard Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) pilot program, which began in June 2020, is set to expire in 2023 and city leaders are hoping to expand it throughout Philadelphia. Roosevelt Boulevard was selected due to its high rate of crashes in the city. Data released by the PennDOT reveals that 55% of crashes on that street were related to speeding or a result of aggressive driving. RELATED HEADLINESSince the program launch, Philadelphia Parking Authority data shows traffic deaths were cut in half within the first seven months. The agency also says speeding violations dropped by 93 percent as of January 2022. Leaders say the program's effort to reduce traffic crashes and deaths cannot be overstated."The success of Automated Speed Enforcement here on Roosevelt Boulevard cannot be overstated.

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Two Pennsylvania judges who orchestrated a scheme to send children to for-profit jails in exchange for kickbacks were ordered to pay more than $200 million to hundreds of children who fell victim to their crimes.U.S. District Judge Judge Christopher Conner awarded $106 million in compensatory damages and $100 million in punitive damages to nearly 300 plaintiffs in a long-running civil suit against the judges.In what came to be known as the kids-for-cash scandal, Mark Ciavarella and another judge, Michael Conahan, shut down a county-run juvenile detention center and accepted $2.8 million in illegal payments from the builder and co-owner of two for-profit lockups.

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators and homicide detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department are working to solve shooting cases that left two people dead and another person hospitalized overnight. Police say officers responded to calls for reports of gunshots and a shooting at 46 Street and Fairmount  Avenue just after 11 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a woman suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound to the leg when a fight inside a Philadelphia wedding spilled outside the venue. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 4200 block of McAllister Street around 9 p.m. for reports of gunshots. Police found a 26-year-old woman suffering a gunshot wound to the leg and brought her to Temple University Hospital where she was placed in stable condition, police said. Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that a fight between mostly women broke out inside the wedding and spilled into the street when gunshot erupted. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESSmall said it's believed that both the victim and shooter were guests at the wedding.

PHILADELPHIA - Three men were hospitalized early Tuesday morning after being shot in a drive-by shooting in Kensington, according to police. Authorities say the shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 2500 block of Kensington Avenue. When police and medics arrived, they found a 34-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his legs. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he is in stable condition, per police. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators later learned that a 25-year-old man and a 49-year-old man showed up at Episcopal Hospital with gunshot wounds, police say. According to Small, the 25-year-old was shot in the hand and leg and the 49-year-old man was shot in the leg. Authorities say they know all three victims were shot on the 2500 block of Kensington Avenue. According to officials, the 25-year-old was inside a mini-mart playing lottery games when he was struck by stray gunfire. Small says the 49-year-old is homeless and was asleep on the street when he was also struck. Authorities say the 34-year-old who was shot is an employee of the minimart who was outside talking to customers when he was shot. At least five gunshots were fired, according to police. The mini-mart has cameras and captured the shooting, Small says. According to investigators, the surveillance shows a light-colored four-door Sedan going north on Kensington Avenue with a person firing the gun from the back seat of the driver's side. 

PHILADELPHIA - A water main break in Northeast Philadelphia is causing traffic delays Monday morning.The break occurred at Roosevelt Boulevard and Goodnaw Street before 7 a.m.Philadelphia Water Department crews, along with police, are currently on the scene.Inner lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard appear to be shutdown in between Grant Avenue and Welsh Road. Traffic on the outer lanes still appears to be flowing as normal.Water, along with mud, sand and rocks, could be seen spreading across the boulevard.Officials tell FOX 29's Steve Keeley that the main break has been shut off, but water is still trickling at this time.This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is set to announce the offering of a reward in connection with a West Philadelphia hit-and-run that left a woman and two children hurt on Monday. According to authorities, officers were called to the intersection of 50th Street and Haverford Avenue around 10 p.m. for reports of a hit-and-run. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that a 29-year-old woman and two girls, ages 3 and 13, were standing on the side of the road when a vehicle jumped the curb, hit a fire hydrant and then struck the three victims. Police have released surveillance images of a car wanted in connection with a hit-and-run in West Philadelphia.  The vehicle continued driving after it struck the woman and two girls, according to police. The woman was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where she remains in critical condition with a severe leg injury and the girls were sent to CHOP in stable condition. Captain mark Overwise, the Commanding Officer of the Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation District, is holding a press conference at 1 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a crash in Northeast Philadelphia involving a teenager behind the wheel, according to authorities. Police say a traffic officer on patrol saw a Toyota Camry being driven at a high rate of speed in the area of Grant Avenue and Bluegrass Road around 2:30 a.m. The officer began to follow the vehicle as it traveled to Welsh and Bluegrass where it almost crashed into a marked police car, authorities say. At the intersection of Welsh Road and Dewees Street, the car jumped the curb, crashed through the fence of a private home, and drove over the lawn before it was launched into the air and landed on another car, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The car then crashed into the front of two twin homes, putting a large crack in the stone in the front of the property, authorities say. The damage to the front of the properties is so extensive that inspectors have deemed it unsafe, police say. Small says the officer who was following the Camry then took the driver, a 15-year-old, into custody. Investigators say the car had been reported stolen from Northeast Philadelphia about 1 hour before. Small says speed and reckless driving were a factor in the crash.  

The victim, 34, ran inside a corner store and was followed by the shooter who fired at least two more times. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a man was shot twice during a street shooting that spilled into a crowded corner store in West Philadelphia. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the area of 41st Street and Lancaster Avenue just before 7 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Homicide detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department are investigating after a teenager was shot and killed in West Philadelphia on Monday night. According to police, 18th District officers responded to numerous 911 calls for gunshots and a shooting at 52nd and Larchwood Streets just before 10 p.m. Chief Inspector Scott Small says responding officers found an 18-year-old on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds to his head, chest and back. Authorities say he was unresponsive and bleeding heavily. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESOfficers rushed the 18-year-old to Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police say. According to Small, at least 52 shots were fired from two separate caliber weapons, including a rifle and a semi-automatic handgun. Authorities say they believe two shooters were standing close to the victim at the time of the shooting. Investigators are still processing the crime scene and checking surveillance cameras in the area as part of the ongoing investigation.
