HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. - A seventh victim has died after a gunman fired more than 70 rounds with an AR-15-style gun at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park Monday.Over 30 people were injured in the attack, which was thought to have been planned by the alleged gunman, Robert Crimo III, for several weeks.The shooting occurred at a spot on the parade route where many residents had staked out prime viewing points early in the day for the annual celebration. Dozens of fired bullets sent hundreds of parade-goers — some visibly bloodied — fleeing. Investigators who have interrogated the suspect and reviewed his social media posts have not determined a motive for the attack or found any indication that he targeted anyone by race, religion or other protected status, Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli said.The suspect was also allegedly disguised as a woman at the time of the shooting."Investigators do believe he did this to conceal his facial tattoos and his identity and help him during the escape with the other people who were fleeing the chaos," said Covelli.After the shooting, the suspect blended in with the crowd and walked to his mother's home in the area where he borrowed her vehicle, Covelli said.

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. - Law enforcement officials revealed more details Tuesday about the suspected gunman in the Highland Park parade shooting that left seven people dead and over 30 others wounded.Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli said Robert Crimo III acted alone and planned the attack for weeks before firing more than 70 rounds at the crowded Independence Day parade."He brought a high-powered rifle to this parade," Covelli said. PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are looking into a shooting that left one man dead in West Oak Lane on the Fourth of July. According to police, the shooting took place on Monday at 4:23 p.m. Officials say officers with the 14th District responded to the 2200 block of East Washington Lane for a report of a person with a gun. Authorities say 39-year-old Tracey Owens was discovered in the driver seat of an Audi with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Medics pronounced him dead on scene at 4:33 p.m., according to police. The investigation is active and ongoing as no arrests were made, per officials.

The car has a PA registration LVV4405.Purnell is described as being 6 feet 1 inches tall, 220 pounds with brown hair and brown hair.

PHILADELPHIA - Detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Unit are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Olney, according to authorities. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small told FOX 29 that the shooting took place Monday night just before 11 p.m. Authorities say officers with the 25th District responded to a 911 call for a report of gunshots on the 4500 block of Palethorp Street. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES According to Small, officers found a 20-year-old man laying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was rushed to Temple Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m., per officials. Authorities say at least 18 spent shell casings were found on the scene. According to police, no arrests have been made and there is no motive, but there were several cameras in the area that will investigators will examine. Small says the victim, who has not yet been identified, lives several miles away but is a Philadelphia resident.

UPPER DARBY, Pa. - A teenager is being sought in connection to a deadly shooting in the basement of a Delaware County home that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy. Jermaine Young, 16, is wanted on several charges, including third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter, according to an affidavit. Officer from the Upper Darby Police Department were called to a home on the 6900 block of Ruskin Lane shortly before 7 p.m. Friday night. According to investigators, police found the 14-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Authorities say a man was shot during an apparent road rage shooting on Fourth of July in Old City, Philadelphia. PHILADELPHIA - One person was injured during a Fourth of July road rage shooting that happened just blocks away from Independence Hall, according to police. FOX 29's Chris O'Connell reports that a ‘traffic altercation’ happened at the intersection of 2nd and Market streets around 3 p.m. The alleged shooter is accused of throwing a drink at the victim's car, then shooting a man in the leg.The victim was taken by police to a Jefferson Hospital, but police have not shared information on his condition. The suspect was taken into custody by responding officers, according to O'Connell.

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - A 17-year-old boy was shot in the stomach and is fighting for his life in Southwest Philadelphia.Police were called to the 1900 block of South 67th Street Saturday night, just after 9, on the report of gunshots, according to authorities.Responding officers found the teen with a gunshot wound to his stomach.Police rushed the teen to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he was placed in critical condition.Police are searching for the shooter and a motive.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A Black man shot and killed by Akron police officers in a hail of bullets following a vehicle and foot pursuit was unarmed at the time of the shooting, but a shot appeared to have come from the vehicle during the pursuit, and officers said they feared he was preparing to fire when they discharged their weapons, authorities said.Police on Sunday released video the mayor called "heartbreaking" of the pursuit and shooting of Jayland Walker, 25, while pleading for peace and patience from the community while the state investigation into the shooting continues. It was not yet clear how many shots were fired, but Walker sustained more than 60 wounds.

PHILADELPHIA - A woman is dead after police say a driver struck her on a Germantown street, then fled early Sunday morning.Police say the 31-year-old woman was crossing the intersection at Germantown and Coulter streets when she was hit by an oncoming car around midnight. The car, possibly a white SUV, reportedly fled the scene leaving the fatally injured woman behind. PHILADELPHIA - A crash involving a moped and car left one driver in critical condition Saturday night.Police say the driver of a moped was running a red light when he was hit by an Audi at the intersection of Loretto and Magee avenues around 7 p.m. The Audi driver was driving through a green light, according to police.The moped driver, a 51-year-old man, suffered head trauma and was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.

PHILADELPHIA - A car has become the center of an investigation after a body was discovered inside its trunk after it went up in flames Saturday night.Fire crews responded to reports of a car fire on the 8500 block of Barry Road around 10:30 p.m. Police say the location was "suspicious," because it was on a bike path near Pennypack Creek in Fox Chase.Police say the fire was "clearly an intentional act" because the car was doused with an accelerant, likely gasoline.After the fire was extinguished, crews reportedly found a man's body inside the trunk of the car.

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Tucson Police Department says a woman was shot and killed by her boyfriend after they got into a car crash on July 1.At around 2 p.m., Sgt. Richard Gradillas says officers responded to reports of a 2-car crash involving a Dodge truck and Kia Soul near 5th Street and Wilmot Road."Before officers arrived on the scene, witnesses observed an adult male exit the truck and left the area on foot," Gradillas said. But once they did arrive, an unresponsive woman, Jessica Garcia, 36, was found in the Dodge with shooting injuries.Garcia was taken to the hospital in critical condition but died shortly after arriving.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a motorcycle driver was killed when he collided with another vehicle Friday night in Philadelphia's Bustleton section. The deadly crash happened on the 1000 block of Bustleton Avenue shortly before 6:30 p.m., according to authorities. Police say a 32-year-old man driving a black Yamaha motorcycle collided with blue Chevy Malibu. The victim, whose name has not been released, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests were made immediately following the deadly crash.

DOVER, Del. - A jury returned a mixed verdict Friday in the corruption trial of Delaware State Auditor Kathy McGuiness, acquitting her of felony charges but finding her guilty of three misdemeanors.McGuiness, a Democrat elected in 2018, is the first statewide elected official in Delaware to be prosecuted while in office.As state auditor, McGuiness is responsible for rooting out government fraud, waste and abuse but was indicted last year on five charges, including felony counts of theft and witness intimidation.PREVIOUS: Delaware state auditor indicted on public corruption chargesAfter deliberating for about four hours over two days, jurors acquitted McGuiness of the theft and intimidation charges. They found her guilty of the three lesser charges — conflict of interest, official misconduct and structuring a contract to avoid a procurement rule.Prosecutors argued McGuiness abused her position in hiring her daughter, structuring payments under a consulting contract to avoid accounting scrutiny, and intimidating employees who were cooperating with investigators.The defense argued McGuiness was the target of an incompetent and biased investigation spurred by complaints from disgruntled employees as she tried to make changes in her office following her predecessor’s 30-year tenure.The jury verdict followed a two-week trial that featured about two dozen witnesses and hundreds of exhibits including emails, text messages, payroll records and accounting spreadsheets.Prosecutor Mark Denney told jurors that McGuiness "used and abused" her position to hire her daughter and give her special privileges unavailable to other part-time workers.
